If you’re struggling to nod off at night, this simple warm drink could be the solution – and all you need is three ingredients to make it at home. Sabrina Bawa shared it on TikTok

There’s nothing worse than tossing and turning all night, unable to drift off.

We all know a good night’s sleep is essential for feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day ahead. If you’re someone who struggles to get some shut-eye, an expert has shared a simple tip that could help.

Sabrina Bawa, author of Detox to Glow, recently took to TikTok to share her recipe for the perfect bedtime drink. According to the wellness guru, a straightforward warm beverage can significantly improve your sleep quality, and it’s easy to make.

She suggests sipping on warm cinnamon milk about 90 minutes before hitting the hay, claiming it helps calm the mind and unwind – something we all need for a good night’s sleep.

To whip up this spiced milk, she uses one cup of plant-based milk, roughly a quarter to half a teaspoon of cinnamon powder and half a teaspoon of ghee, simmering the mixture for a few minutes.

Once it’s heated through, simply remove it from the stove and let it cool slightly before drizzling a bit of honey on top for added sweetness.

Sabrina said: “I’ve been making spiced warm milk at night ever since I can remember. This variation is the one that works best for me.

“So, if you can’t fall asleep at night, or if you wake up in the middle of the night and you can’t fall back asleep, you have to try this one. It will warm and ground your nervous system back to sleep.”

The video has racked up hundreds of likes since being shared, and the comments section lit up too. Sabrina mentioned cow’s milk can be used as an alternative if that’s your preference.

One social media user commented: “I want to try this and see if it works.” Another quizzed: “Can I use cow’s milk? Or is plant-based milk key?” Someone else also chimed in, asking: “What can I use instead of ghee?”

Many will recall from their childhood days the classic remedy of a glass of milk before bed to ease into sleep. The effectiveness of this old wives’ tale remains up for debate with science not fully on board, yet sprinkling in a bit of spice does offer solid perks.

To begin, cinnamon carries natural muscle relaxing properties which can promote sleep. Moreover, the warmth of milk is thought to internally heat the body, fostering a snug and cosy feeling.

As well as this, milk is rich in tryptophan, the amino acid responsible for boosting your body’s production of serotonin and melatonin, essential for regulating your sleep cycle.
