With February half-term just around the corner, travel experts have revealed the exact dates you need to book a last-minute holiday to get a great deal
As February drags on and the half-term break looms, many families are on the prowl for budget-friendly, last-ditch escapes. There’s good news for thrifty travellers who haven’t snapped up a deal yet – the best bargains are still to come!
Travel experts claim there’s an ideal time to nab low-cost flights for those dream family trips.
Oliver Brendon, of AttractionTickets.com, suggests that snapping up flights within a certain period can bag you some cheaperfares for overseas jaunts. He said: “Contrary to what many travellers believe, industry data suggests that booking flights within a window of eight to 23 days before departure can offer some of the most competitive prices for international travel, especially when it comes to places like Florida.”
Booking right in the middle of this timeframe could lead to savings, and apparently, even the day of the week matters. Delving deeper, Brendon said: “We also know through historical external data that travellers can sometimes save up to 24 percent on flights if they book them on a Sunday, particularly within this eight to 23-day window.”
Brendon points out Sunday, February 9th, or Sunday, February 16th as your golden ticket dates, reports the Express.. These are bang on target within the magic window and just right for locking down affordable family holiday deals for the half-term rush, he clarified.
Although it may appear to be a last-minute dash, research shows Sundays are the best day to book flights for cheaper deals. This way you can reap the rewards of the best savings while avoiding the stress of last-minute price rises.
Brendon also has some tips on how to save money when booking last-minute Easter breaks. “In my experience, prices for Easter tend to rise sharply in the two weeks before, so you can avoid this by making sure you book ahead of 25th March,” he said..
“Remember, it’s a risk to book things last minute, so opt for using ticketing sites with fixed pricing models like ours and always do your research to get the best deals.”
When it comes to getting a good deal, timing is everything – regardless of whether you’re looking to get away for February half-term or planning ahead for Easter. With some careful research and planning, you can bag a bargain and make memories that will last a lifetime without blowing your budget.
