A flight attendant has revealed how you can avoid delays by flying at a specific time of day, as she said there’s one flight that airlines always try to get out on time
Flying at a certain time of day could ensure your plane isn’t hit by delays, according to a flight attendant.
There’s nothing worse than arriving at the airport for your much-needed holiday, only to find that your flight has been delayed. It can happen for a variety of reasons, and can even be the knock-on effect of earlier planes in the day being held up.
Thankfully, a flight attendant reckons you can avoid this if you book for a certain time of day. Ally Case posted a video on TikTok in which she explained the best time of day to fly is early in the morning – even if this means getting to the airport much earlier than you’d like.
She said: “This needs a bit of an emphasis, because it’s so important. Always book the first flight of the day. I know that probably means you’re getting up really early but trust me, it is so worth it. There’s a lot of pressure for airlines to get out that first flight of the day to prevent any sort of domino effect of delays for the entire day ahead.”
The flight attendant added that if, in a “worst case scenario”, your plane is still delayed or cancelled, you will have plenty of other flights to board later in the day. In the caption of her video, Ally further detailed the “domino effect”, stating: “Planes are reused throughout the day, all across the world, and those first few flights (whether on time or delayed) set the tone for the rest of the day.”
Commenters on the post agreed with Ally’s advice, with some saying they always take an early flight out but don’t always do the same coming back as they’d rather enjoy more of their holiday. Others even joked that Ally shouldn’t share her secrets with other people, as it would lead to the early flights being busier.
One person said: “I always try to book the 7 am flight when I’m leaving for vacation, but going home like them a bit later in the day if the airport is far away.” Another posted: “Unless I have a connecting flight, I’d rather hang around waiting for a late plane. But it’s good to know for times I have a connection.”
