A flight attendant shared three things passengers should never do while flying – and it seems they are all very common among holidaymakers and frequent travellers

Taking a flight can be thrilling, as you anticipate reaching your final destination – but there are certain things you should steer clear of while in the air.

Flight attendant @cierra_mistt revealed the “flight attendant secrets you need to know” on TikTok, so you can avoid making blunders during your journey. The first thing she strongly advised against is “using the toilet paper” when you visit the loo on an aircraft.

Don’t fret, it doesn’t mean you have to sit there for five minutes drip drying, she simply suggested passengers “use the paper towels” as a substitute. But why? She explained: “It’s higher quality and it won’t rip or dissolve like the toilet paper will.”

Next, she advised not to “not walk barefoot to the bathroom” as many plane travellers do. “I can assure you the liquid on the floor is not water and you certainly don’t want to be stepping in it,” Cierra warned, letting people make up their own minds about the liquid they were walking in.

“Not to mention that bathroom never gets cleaned unless it’s bad enough that we have to close it off for the rest of the flight,” she confessed. She also disclosed the cleaners who are employed to tidy up the plane post-flight “don’t do a deep clean like you think they do”.

She stated: “They only did that during Covid and the only things they really deep-cleaned were the tray tables and the seatbelts. Nowadays it’s more of a tidy up and getting the trash off the floor.”

In a surprising twist, she further advised against using the hygiene wipe provided on boarding to clean the tray table since it has probably been cleaned already.

Ciarra implored passengers to instead focus on wiping down the window area, claiming they are rarely ever given a proper scrub. In response, one person commented: “Sooooo planes are dirty, got it.” Another confessed: “Oh sweety, I walk with hospital grade wipes.”
