Not many people knew about the space-saving function by the enterprising woman which allowed more crockery to be fitted into the dishwasher

Filling up the dishwasher has become much easier after a woman found a secret function on her home appliance.

She posted two methods of moving the cutlery holder in certain dishwasher models which leaves more room for crockery. The cutlery holder was put on its side and on to the dishwasher door before shutting the washer but it can also be hung on machine’s bottom drawer. Very few people were aware of the hack after Instagram account @truearthmovement showed how it was done in a video watched by thousands of people. The woman astonished other on her channel saying: “I was today years old when I learned my dishwasher could do this,’ the woman wrote in the clip.

Her tip was watched by many who wanted to try it themselves on their own kitchen appliances. After seeing her clip, one person confessed: “I have the same dishwasher and after three years I finally did this.” Another person added: “Mine hangs on the front of the rack but I didn’t know it could go on the door!’ Another commenter said: “I need to try this!!!” Although some people said they had the same model, there were others whose household appliance did not have the useful feature.

One excited person was disappointed and replied: “Immediately ran to my dishwasher. Looked for hooks, none there.” Further comments showed they were not the only crestfallen dishwasher user to not have the feature. Another person said: “I wish mine did this! I tried this morning and it was a no-go.” One user of the social media channel concluded: “This must be for more high-end dishwashers.’ But some people questioned her method and wondered why it was necessary.

Another user replied: “Just out of curiosity why would one want to do that? Wouldn’t all the cutlery just fall out as you open & close the dishwasher? And if one wants more space one can just remove the cutlery holder?” Their mind was put at rest after being told the cutlery “doesn’t fall out”.

By having the cutlery holder on the door of the appliance it provided more space for dirty plates and bowls. The Mirror reported on another homeowner who give her top tip to stop your glasses from coming out of the dishwasher cloudy – and it barely costs anything. The woman, who is a member of The Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group, says her hack is a game-changer in the kitchen.

She offered helpful advice to 629.9K members and said the trick is split into two instructions. All you need to do to get the glasses dazzling is to use a bit of tin foil and place it in a certain position inside the dishwasher, she said. The cleaning enthusiast wrote: “Sounds strange, (but) scrunch up a bit of tin foil (and) put it in the cutlery tray. She added: “Works a treat, glasses come out sparkling.”
