Jade Goody’s son Freddy Brazier has bravely detailed his addiction struggles as he opened up on the fallout with his dad Jeff Brazier and revealed how nan Jackiey played a role
Freddy Brazier has candidly revealed what caused the distance between himself and his dad Jeff Brazier. The 20-year-old bravely opened up on his “tough” personal journey following Jeff’s legal battle to stop him seeing grandmother Jackiey Budden.
The late Jade Goody’s son has seen his relationship with his dad struggle after he moved out of their family home. Freddy decided to live with Jade’s mum Jackiey and sparked concern for Jeff after he was pictured smoking with her.
TV presenter Jeff had launched legal proceedings to stop the pair meeting following concerns over Freddy’s wellbeing. Despite things between Jeff and Freddy hitting a rough patch, it seems the father and son have taken a turn as they shared a sweet moment just days ago.

Now, Freddy has decided to lay bare the extent of what he has been going through after revealing he was going to rehab earlier this year. “I’ve been smoking since I was 12,” he said.
“I’ve been to rehab, I’ve been sectioned, I’ve had manic episodes, I’ve been in cells. There’s been a real journey and it’s been a tough one.”
He claimed his nan Jackiey was the one who got him “hooked” on drugs. “My nan was definitely the person who not only introduced me to weed but got me hooked,” Freddy said.
Addressing his relationship with dad Jeff and why he spent so much time with his nan, Freddy sadly explained: “I feel like if I didn’t prioritise the relationship with my mum’s mum Jackiey… I was scared that if I wasn’t [around her], she’d kill herself.
“And I had that in my head for so long to the point where I pushed my dad away and I was at my nan’s for months, go on mad ones…” In June, Freddy shared his plans to go to rehab in Spain for his addiction before revealing he went on a “boys holiday” instead.
“I’ve been smoking from the age of 12 and it’s time to stop,” he candidly shared. “It was a bad coping mechanism that turned into an addiction – something I relied on and something that made me feel sane and somewhat OK.”
Freddy explained how he wanted to be “clean” so he could fix relationships with Jeff and Jackiey. He said: “I want to be happy and be in a healthy relationship and have a healthy relationship with my Nana and my father.”
It seems Freddy has been working on his bond with Jeff as just last week he shared photos of his dad in 101 Dalmatians: The Musical. He added a touching message as he shared his support to Jeff’s project.
“I’ve now been to watch 101 Dalmatians three times,” Freddy said. “Some would say Fred you got a lot of time on your hands don’t ya? Well yes I do got too much time on my hands actually!
“But I just love watching my Dad at work and having fun and smiling, it makes me smile. I’ve Loved watching my Dad and the rest of the cast in the show as has everyone that I’ve gone with or spoke to. What a great show if you haven’t watched it you’ve got till the 30th so hurry up!!”
