Gabby Logan has opened up about her sex life with husband Kenny in the wake of him having his prostate removed following a cancer diagnosis

Gabby Logan has opened up about her sex life with husband Kenny saying how she ‘wasn’t patient’ with him after he couldn’t perform after he had his prostate removed.

Former rugby international Kenny, 52, was diagnosed with cancer in February 2022 and later underwent surgery. BBC anchor Gabby has bravely opened up about their sex-life to raise awareness of the condition, and side effects including erectile dysfunction.

Gabby told The Chris Evans Breakfast Show: “It’s Kenny and I talking frankly about what was going to happen. Because there is a big risk of functionality and not being there. Erectile function can be massively affected and it might not come back. Kenny was very lucky and eventually it did, but it took a while. His wife wasn’t as patient as she might have been.”

Speaking out, she added: “I think the reason why I wanted to talk about it candidly was because, of course, if you’ve been together with somebody for a long time, and that’s a big part of your relationship then it is something that is going to affect the dynamics. It’s huge. I’m trying not to use the wrong words. It’s huge. He was obviously wanting us to be the couple that we were before and obviously was facing up to this potential huge physical change.”

Kenny and Gabby have been married for over 22 years and have two children together and he previously spoke about the impact his illness and treatment had on him. Kenny, 51, who won 70 international rugby caps representing Scotland, has previously said his wife had expected the passion in their relationship to be reignited “immediately” after his operation. He said she complained “it’s not working, it’s not working”, affecting his confidence as he felt that she “didn’t even give me a chance”

Cancer Research UK estimates that 76 per cent of men who are treated for prostate cancer experience erectile dysfunction. “You are good, but you want things to happen immediately,” he said. “When we first tried to have sex after the [operation], Gabby said, ‘Oh, it’s not working, that’s it, it’s not working, it’s not working’. You didn’t even give me a chance. What actually happened from that was my confidence went rock bottom. It was like, ‘Oh my god’. Every time I saw her in the bedroom I turned around and walked out. Sometimes you’ve just got to give a man a little bit of time.”

Gabby said that from a woman’s point of view, “obviously it was quite tough at the beginning”.
