Cleaning glass screens around showers in our bathrooms can often be very tricky due to limescale build-up but one simple DIY solution could save us time and money

A cleaning expert has shared a genius hack to ensure our shower screens remain clean and sparking all-year long.

Cleaning the glass screens is often one of the toughest jobs in the bathroom as they can often appear cloudy and dirty if the right cleaning ingredients are not used. This is because of limescale, a build-up of water minerals that can be very difficult to remove without leaving behind streaks. Jayden Copeland, a cleaning expert and founder of Backroad Bloom, has revealed her simple yet effective method of ensuring glass screens are left sparking every time. In fact, it involves two kitchen staples which will already be stocked in most homes, Daily Express reports. Jayden said: “The best homemade shower cleaner is a mix of distilled white vinegar and regular ol’ dish soap. It’s so simple and easy, but SO effective! You won’t ever need to buy store-bought shower cleaner again.”

The cleaning expert claims her method leaves shower glass clean without leaving any residue or streaks. “This DIY shower cleaner spray can be used on a weekly basis (or more often if that’s your thing), to get your shower walls and glass spick and span,” she said. White vinegar is a great natural product for cleaning glass as it contains acetic acid, which can break down limescale and other grime without leaving behind streaks. It also evaporates very quickly when mixed with water so leaves glass sparking like new.

How to make a homemade solution to clean shower glass

You will need:

  • White vinegar
  • Washing up liquid
  • An empty spray bottle
  • Sponge
  • Two cloths

Instructions

In order to create the DIY solution, combine equal parts white vinegar and washing up liquid in an empty spray bottle, then screw the lid on and give it a good shake to combine the ingredients. Next, spray down the shower glass and then leave it to sit for roughly five minutes.

Once the time is up, use a sponge to scrub down the glass and the dirt should easily come away. After cleaning the glass give it a rinse with a damp cloth and then use a dry polish cloth to dry it off.

The shower glass should now be clean and sparkling. Repeat this method every time you clean your bathroom, keeping the rest of the DIY solution in the cupboard for next time.
