The 67th annual Grammy Awards take place in Los Angeles tonight, and there are plenty of ways to stream the action-packed ceremony and music performances live in the UK
The Grammys are taking place tonight, with some of the biggest names in music competing for what’s seen as the biggest honour of the industry.
The event takes place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with a full red carpet and a slew of performances from fan favourites. The show will be hosted by comedian Trevor Noah, with plenty of other celebs lined up to present awards.
While the show is taking place across the pond, there are still plenty of ways we can watch it in the UK and not miss out on any of the live drama or music. Americans can catch it on CBS, but Brits with a Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscription can watch it there. Even without the subscription, it’s also available to stream live on Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV and FuboTV. If those weren’t already enough options, The Grammys have their own official website streaming the full show, live.grammy.com.
The show itself kicks off at 8pm local time in Los Angeles, meaning 1am GMT. If you don’t fancy staying up so late, you can catch the pre-show red carpet on YouTube, starting at 11pm. The ceremony itself ends at 4.30am our time, with live performances scheduled throughout the show.
This year’s list of nominees features all of the best and greatest of the year, and it seems to be dominated by female musicians. One of the biggest categories, Album of the Year, will see André 3000, Beyoncé, Sabrina Carpenter, Charli XCX, Jacob Collier, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Taylor Swift go head to head.
Many of the same artists are also up for Record of the Year, with The Beatles, Beyoncé, Sabrina Carpenter, Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, Chappell Roan, Taylor Swift and Post Malone all competing to bag the major achievement.
Plenty of work goes on behind the scenes to decide who’s nominated, with the decision-making being a year-round job. The secretive process begins with The Online Entry Process (OEP), the yearly period when registered Media Companies and Recording Academy Members can submit music and works for consideration at the Grammy Awards. Then, each entry is vetted by the Recording Academy’s Awards staff to determine its eligibility.
Once submissions are received, there are two rounds of voting – the first round, which determines the nominees, and the final round, which determines the winners. The first round closed on Tuesday, while the final round opened on December 12, 2024, and closed on January 3, 2025.
While the Grammys is all about the music, this year will be different to most after the traumatic Los Angeles wildfires. Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. and Tammy Hurt, the chair of the Academy’s board of trustees, shared a joint statement explaining that the show would also raise funds for relief.
It read: “This city is our home, and we mourn the loss of life and destruction that have come to it in recent days. In close coordination with local authorities to ensure public safety and responsible use of area resources, the 67th Grammy Awards telecast on CBS on Feb. 2 will proceed as planned.
“This year’s show, however, will carry a renewed sense of purpose: raising additional funds to support wildfire relief efforts and honouring the bravery and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect ours. In challenging times, music has the power to heal, comfort, and unite like nothing else.”
