The Hackney Moves festival took place in east London at the weekend, with more than 60,000 people enjoying the event

This year’s Wizz Air Hackney Half Marathon was the biggest and best yet as more than 25,000 people took to the streets in east London.

The event sold out in record time as lucky participants pounded their way around the 13.1 mile course that took in some iconic spots like the Hackney Picturehouse, Victoria Park, and the Hackney Empire – before savouring their finishing moment at Hackney Marshes.

Becky Briggs, of City of Hull AC, won the women’s race, finishing in 01:14:20, while Hugo Fry and Chris Bruchhausen, both of Belgrave Harriers, were the first finishers, crossing the line together in 1:06:53.

The half marathon raised a staggering £4 million for its official charity partners across the weekend, which include Alzheimer’s Society, Macmillan Cancer Support, GOSH, St Mungos, British Heart Foundation, Homerton Healthcare and Shelter, along with a number of local, Hackney charities.

Entries for next year’s event sold out in just 24 hours bit those who missed out can still do so via the official charity partners here.
