Heinz have a history of offering mayonnaises in peculiar flavours, including a Terry’s Chocolate Orange version as well as hot cross bun tinged sauce, but their latest collaboration could be the spookiest yet

Here’s a dressing to terrify your tastebuds, a mayonnaise that tastes like pickled onion crisps.

Ahead of Halloween, Heinz and Walkers have teamed up for a limited edition Heinz [Scarily] Good Monster Munch Pickled Onion Flavour Mayo.

Thiago Rapp, director of taste elevation at Kraft Heinz, reckoned: “This mayo is the ultimate flavour mash-up that will add a tangy twist to any dish.”

The concoction reflects the firm’s “dedication to pushing boundaries and exploring new, bold flavours that appeal to modern palates,” he added.

Curious consumers can buy a bottle from tomorrow on Heinz’s website, in Iceland from Tuesday, then in other supermarkets from next month. The RRP is £2.40 but Heinz says it is giving retailers price discretion.

The challenging dressing is the latest in a long line of unusual mayonnaises from Heinz. Previous offerings have tasted like Terry’s Chocolate Orange, and hot cross buns. There was a Barbie-themed one too.

And the latest launch taps into an emerging trend for younger consumers keen on retro crisps – we recently reported soaring sales of KP Skips, Smiths Frazzles and Discos.
