Home cook Jill Stewart’s ‘controversial’ special curry ingredient had food fans calling it a ‘crime’

A home cook has left food fans horrified after sharing their controversial ‘secret’ ingredient they put in their curry. Jill Stewart, also known as @jillbakes_ from County Antrim in Northern Ireland, decided to share her top tip for elevating her curry recipe.

In a post shared to Instagram, the home cook revealed she adds a particular type of chocolate to her dish for flavour. Instead of opting for plain dark or milk chocolate, Jill shared her added ingredient was a Bounty bar.

She explained: “It’s been controversial, but adding chocolate to your curry is a game-changer. Would you try it?” However, Jill’s ‘secret’ ingredient proved to be too controversial and ruffled feathers amongst her followers.

Some agreed that chocolate can be a good addition to a dish, but that adding a whole Bounty bar to mix was crossing a line.

One person said: “I MEAN ADD LIKE SOME DARK CHOCOLATE BUT NOT A BOUNTY BAR.” @sunilsingh.x commented: “Calling that curry is a crime.” Another agreed: “What a horrendous day to have eyes.”

One follower even tagged popular Indian restaurant chain Dishoom to the comments to ask for its thoughts. Dishoom simply replied with shocked and confused emojis.

Not everyone felt the same way, with @richenzo_99 saying: “That’s mole vibes I love it.” @laurelanisa agreed: “Why does everyone hate on bounties they’re so good.”

Mole is a traditional Mexican sauce consisting of fruits, nuts, chilli peppers, and spices like black pepper, cinnamon, or cumin. Chocolate isn’t an ingredient traditionally found in Indian cuisine or any of Subcontinental Asia.
