Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster sparked speculation they were in a relationship after it was reported they developed chemistry during their work on Broadway, New York City
Sutton Foster and Hugh Jackman have appeared to have confirmed their off-stage romance.
The pair starred in the Music Man on Broadway, New York City from February 2022 to January 2023, during which rumours about their relationship began to circulate, particularly after both their marriages ended.
In September 2023, Wolverine star Hugh announced his split from wife Deborra-Lee Furness after nearly 30 years of marriage. A year later, Sutton filed for divorce from her husband of a decade, Ted Griffin.
And, on Monday Sutton and Hugh appeared to confirm their relationship when they were spotted hand in hand on a dinner date in Santa Monica, California. Hugh was seen in white trousers and a grey shirt under a black zip-up jacket, while Sutton sported a green dress with a camel coat.
In past interviews, the pair have openly expressed their admiration for each other. Speaking to Vogue in 2022, Sutton said of Hugh: “He has an impeccable reputation of being the hardest working man, incredibly kind, and generous-and all of that is true.”
She added: “He’s now become one of my best friends, which was a surprise, because you usually go into these things thinking, ‘Well, I hope we get along.’ But we just spent Memorial Day with our families. It’s really fun to meet new friends after 40.”, reports the Mirror US.
She even touched on the special connection she and her co-star shared on stage. “One of the things that our director said early on was when you’re watching two characters fall in love, you look for the moments where they make each other smile,” she explained.
“To it’s sort of birthed out of that, and it’s a spontaneous moment that’s different every single night,” she continued, pondering, “It toes that line of, is it Harold and Marian, or Hugh and Sutton? ” Hugh Jackman also expressed his admiration for Sutton, telling Seth Meyers on his late-night show in 2022: “I saw her do Thoroughly Modern Millie, when you were like 4 years old. I’ve watched everything she’s done. It’s amazing.”
