A woman was allegedly detained at the airport because she looks nothing like her passport photo thanks to the 20 times she’s been under the knife since it was taken
Passport photos can be unflattering, and if you’ve managed to take a good one, you’ll be happily clinging onto it for 10 years until expiry.
Sometimes, in the years you have your passport, you may change, however. You may lose weight, change your hair colour, or even decide to get fillers and Botox to overhaul the way you look completely. And if you keep the same photo, things can sometimes get a bit complicated.
This is exactly what happened to model Janaína Prazeres, who has been dubbed ‘the world’s most beautiful woman,’ when she was stopped at the airport. The reason? She’s been under the knife 20 times since her passport picture was taken, so she was “questioned” for looking nothing like the image.
Immigration control staff were allegedly “confused” when the 35-year-old presented her passport. This is due to the fact she’s spent over £758,000 to drastically alter her appearance.
She was allegedly detained for 40 minutes as they asked her to prove her identity to them. But what has the model had done to cause such a stir? She’s had a full facial ‘harmonisation’, multiple rhinoplasties, and a body lift costing around £66,000.
In the old, faded image, she has distinctly darker hair, a slightly wider nose and broader cheeks, and less make-up. But she admitted that she had a feeling it was going to happen at some point.
She said: “I always knew this could happen at some point because my appearance has changed a lot over the years. But at that moment, it was a shock – you never expect to be stopped at an airport without doing anything wrong.
“Officers asked several questions and even compared my photo with other images before granting me entry into the country.”
The incident reportedly took place in the past month at São Paulo International Airport. The influencer, who has over 725,000 Instagram followers and was recently crowned the ‘perfect woman’ in a Playboy study, was flying from Brazil to the US.
Janaína was left so concerned by the whole ordeal that she decided to immediately renew her passport upon returning from her trip abroad to avoid any sort of situation again.
She admitted that she “didn’t want to go through that kind of embarrassment again,” because she hadn’t done anything wrong but was made to prove her identity because of the confusing photographs. “As soon as I arrived at my destination, I started looking into what I needed to get a new document with a more recent photo,” she said.
However, the model is taking it all in her stride, simply admitting that “perfection has its price,” and it’s a small price to pay to have to get a new passport photo.
São Paulo International Airport has been approached for comment.
