Victoria Beckham made a strong impression during a birthday party, shortly after her husband David Beckham had completed his move to LA Galaxy from Real Madrid in 2007
Victoria Beckham left a lasting impression through her actions at a party, soon after her husband joined LA Galaxy. David Beckham shocked the sporting world when he signed for the Galaxy in 2007.
The former England captain made the unlikely move from Real Madrid to the MLS, signing a five-year deal. Beckham’s marquee transfer subsequently led his former Three Lions team-mates Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney, among other star names, to head stateside near the end of their careers.
The Beckham family moved to Los Angeles, combining sporting ambitions with the inevitable celebrity spotlight. While David struggled to enjoy immediate success with his new team, Victoria proved to be a hit away from the pitch.
The insight into how Victoria embraced her new life in America came from the son of former Galaxy striker Carlos Pavon. The Hoduran forward was at the club during David’s first year and his son Carlos Pavon Jr recalled spending time with the Beckham family, including his memory of Victoria during a birthday party for one of her sons.
“I was playing with [Beckham’s] son on the inflatable trampoline and we were jumping, and then out of nowhere, I notice the kid’s mum comes in, David’s wife, Victoria,” Pavon Jr told the La Pelota Al DIEZ podcast as he remembered the birthday bash, which was held in a park.

“She started jumping with us and I was like, ‘I can’t believe I’m doing this with Victoria Beckham,’ so I think that was the funniest thing. Everybody saw when she came in and started jumping with us, so when I came out, I think they all saw my surprised face, like, ‘Wow, that just happened.’ It was really funny.”
Pavon Snr’s football career included spells in Mexico, Spain, Italy, Colombia and his native Honduras, who he also represented at the 2010 World Cup. However, for Pavon Jr, his family’s brief time in Los Angeles felt like something from a movie.
“It was incredible. I was 12 years old, so I was a bit between my childhood and my adolescence, but I remember very well and it was so different,” he reminisced. “I really felt that, I felt that it had nothing to do with Italy, with Mexico, with Honduras.
“There I felt like we were literally in Hollywood, the people we interacted with, the cars, the food, the house, everything was like another level, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left and well, the presence of David Beckham also had a big influence on that.
“I followed him, I played FIFA with him and all that, so seeing him in person and interacting with him and his family was almost like a dream, like it wasn’t real.”
It was a few years after Pavon had left the club that David began to experience the footballing success that many had expected to be instant. Towards the end of his career, the former Manchester United star helped the club win back-to-back MLS Cups in 2011 and 2012.
Meanwhile, Victoria launched her fashion brand a year after moving to the States. The former Spice Girl earned praise for her work as a fashion designer as the Beckhams settled into life in the USA.
David continues to build his legacy in the MLS as co-owner of Inter Miami. The team captured worldwide attention through the signing of Lionel Messi in 2023 and have won the Leagues Cup and Supporters’ Shield during the Argentine icon’s time at the club
