This simple hack will quickly remove stains from your sofa without the need to pay for a professional upholstery clean – and it uses something you probably already have at home

Cleaning experts have shared a game-changing hack for easily removing stains from your sofa – and it only costs 95p.

The reality is that sofas are usually the focal point of the living room, which means that you probably want to ensure that yours always looks its best. The issue is that, because of how much use sofas tend to get, they often end up looking a little worse for wear rather quickly. While you could opt to have your sofa professionally cleaned, professional upholstery cleaning usually comes at a rather high price.

The good news is that, according to cleaning experts, there’s a super simple, seriously cheap hack for keeping your sofa clean and removing stains once and for all. What’s great about this handy hack is that all you need is a can of shaving foam and a cleaning cloth, and you don’t even have to scrub.

Cleaning expert Lorna White tells Yours that you can easily remove stained areas from your sofa using shaving foam. She revealed: “If your sofa is looking a little worse-for-wear and you don’t have any upholstery cleaner to hand, try dabbing a little shaving foam on any stains.”

The cleaning pro then explained that all you need to do is leave the shaving foam to settle for a few minutes, before then gently blotting it away using a dry cleaning cloth. She added that, when you remove the shaving foam the stain should also be removed with it. However, if the stain isn’t completely gone after one spray of shaving cream, you can repeat the process until it’s gone.

Before spaying shaving foam onto a visible area of your sofa, it’s a good idea to do a small patch test somewhere that isn’t visible. This will allow you to ensure that the shaving cream is safe to use on your sofa and won’t cause any noticeable damage.
