And a visit to the Pyramids or Valley of the Kings is essential if you plan a trip to the capital Cairo. For most people it is an incredibly memorable experience. A review on Trip Advisor summed up their visit saying: “The feeling of history here is amazing. It’s one thing to see this place on the internet and TV, but to be here stood in front of the pyramids is surreal. It’s very hot as would be expected and the most important thing is to go with a licenced and reputable guide.

“Going inside the great pyramid is a must, although avoid if claustrophobic. It’s literally like walking through a sauna fully clothed with some small walkways. Although there is nothing actually inside, to be able to walk through such an old piece of significant human history is amazing!”

The Mirror reported recently that Egypt has relatively affordable travel options. And hotels in the main tourist areas are usually an opulent affairs offering a blend of modern amenities and traditional Egyptian hospitality. Sharm El Sheikh is best known for its decadent luxury hotels, dune-filled deserts and bustling bazaars, while Hurghada is home to some of the world’s most colourful coral reefs, making it a popular destination for anyone who likes to dive.
