Nisha Katona’s new ITV series will see her invite viewers into her home life
ITV star and restaurateur Nisha Katona is returning to our screens with her new series titled Nisha Katona’s Home Kitchen. The show will take viewers into her family home near the Wirral, where she’ll share her favourite recipes using locally sourced ingredients and produce from her own garden.
Nisha Katona’s Home Kitchen is set to premiere on Saturday (February 8) at 11.40am on ITV and STV.
Ahead of the launch, Nisha expressed her excitement, saying: “I have dedicated my life to making delicious food easily achievable, so I’m thrilled to be able to share my super simple, super tasty, super quick dishes, created in the happy chaos of my own home with my two and four legged family.”
The 53-year-old chef first gained recognition through her Mowgli street food restaurants, which have quickly spread across the UK, including locations in Preston, Sheffield, Leicester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, and Glasgow.
Besides leading her popular Indian street food chain, Nisha has also established the Mowgli Trust charity, enjoyed success as a food writer and TV presenter, and had an entirely different career spanning two decades, all before turning 50. But what else is there to know about her life off-screen?
Nisha Katona’s former career before food empire
Originally from Ormskirk in Lancashire, Nisha studied law at Liverpool John Moores University, where she met her future husband, Zoltan Katona.
The Liverpool Echo reports Nisha spent two decades as a child protection barrister on the Northern Circuit before being appointed trustee of the National Museums Liverpool by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport in 2008.
However, her passion for cooking led her to take the bold step of opening her own restaurant, a risk that has certainly paid off.
Nisha has authored several cookbooks, made frequent TV appearances across mainstream channels, contributed to Radio 4’s The Kitchen Cabinet, and hosted cooking segments on This Morning. She served as a judge on the Great British Menu, guest chef on Masterchef, and cooked with McFly’s Harry Judd on Cooking with the Stars.
Nisha Katona’s famous husband
Nisha Katona is married to Zoltan Katona, whom she met at Liverpool John Moores University in the 1990s. They have two teenage daughters, Tia and India.
Nisha tends to keep her private life under wraps, rarely discussing her family publicly. Zoltan Katona forms one half of the guitar duo The Katona Twins with his identical twin Peter.
The brothers began their musical journey at the age of 10 and pursued it throughout their adolescence. Their studies took them across Europe, including the Bartok Conservatory of Music in Budapest, the Frankfurt University of Music, and under American classical pianist Michael Lewin at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
The pair have bagged numerous awards during their 32-year career, including the Borletti-Buitoni Prize in 2004 – making history as the first guitarists to receive this honour.
Nisha Katona’s home life
Nisha Katona currently resides with her family on a farm in Birkenhead, Wirral.
Her latest series offers viewers a peek into the chef’s farm life, complete with three dogs, four horses, four goats, and a variety of ducks, chickens, guinea fowl, and alpacas.
The TV personality frequently shares glimpses of her idyllic home life on Instagram, from horse riding around the farm and local area, to relaxing with their dogs and enjoying their verdant garden.
Nisha has previously expressed her love for Liverpool, crediting the city for giving her the opportunity to thrive and urging fellow restaurateurs to invest in the city.
