Travel blogger Drew Binsky has visited all of the 195 countries recognised by the United Nations – but three cities stood out as must-sees.

Drew, whose real name is Drew Goldberg, spent 12 years travelling the world, ticking off nations as he went. In October 2021, he achieved the impressive feat of visiting every country when he landed in Saudi Arabia.

Over the years, Drew says he has visited some “challenging destinations”. Although there have also been a host of “amazing” cities he has spent time in.

However, there are three destinations that Drew, 33, would recommend for anyone wanting to head on a trip abroad. The YouTuber says Prague, Beirut, and Seoul are three of his top cities.

A ‘love’ of Prague

Topping his list is Prague, a city that not only ignited Drew’s passion for travel but also holds a special place in his heart from the six months he lived there during his studies.

Drew shared his affection for the Czech capital, stating: “I fell in love with Czech culture right off the bat. It’s Eastern Europe but it’s encroaching on the west so you have a little bit of both.

“It’s grungy, amazing people, the nightlife is great and beer is cheaper than water. It’s in the centre of the continent so you can easily take a bus to Berlin or Munich or anywhere else.”

The travel blogger raved about the charm of Prague, highlighting how its compact layout makes it a breeze for tourists to explore on foot. He recommended hitting must-see attractions like the Old Town Square, the John Lennon Wall – a tribute to the legendary Beatles musician – and the majestic Prague Castle.

‘Freaking awesome’ Beirut

Drew says that it “breaks his heart” to hear Lebanon often gets a “bad rep”. For him, the capital is “freaking awesome”, boasting about how “openminded” the locals are and describing the city’s nightlife as “insane”.

Drew noted that the people in Lebanon have endured much hardship: “People my age, they’ve gone through war, their parents’ age have gone through more wars, their grandparents’ age have gone through more wars. They’re just a resilient bunch and the cherry on top is that they have one of the best cuisines in the world.”

Foods such as shawarma, falafel and tabbouleh – a salad featuring fresh parsley, mint, lemon, and bulgur wheat – hummus and kibbeh – a dish containing a mixture of bulgur wheat, onions, and ground beef – as his personal favourites.

Drew labelled Seoul as ‘underrated’(Image: Jackyenjoyphotography via Getty Images)

‘Underrated’ South Korean city

Turning his gaze to Seoul, Drew considers the South Korean metropolis to be “underrated”, explaining that while many globetrotters flock to cities like Tokyo, Bangkok, or Hong Kong, Seoul holds its own unique allure. Drawing from his two years teaching English there, he insisted the city is “so cool”.

He enthused: “Seoul is where it’s at. If you like Korean barbecue, where you cook the meal yourself and get all the little side dishes, and if you like to drink with your friends and have a night out on the town, then Seoul’s your place.”

Drew was quick to praise Seoul’s “buzzing markets” alongside the serenity of the city’s Buddhist temples and the charm of traditional villages just a stone’s throw away. For a panoramic view of the metropolis, he suggests taking a hike up Bukhansan mountain and also urges visitors not to miss the K-Pop district or the famous Gangnam area.

He summed up: “The bottom line is you’ll never be bored in Seoul. Don’t overlook the city on your next visit to Asia.”
