Amazon MGM Studios is reportedly planning on hiring the youngest ever James Bond for its upcoming 007 instalments. Last month, it was revealed that Amazon MGM Studios had agreed to a deal with the Broccoli family behind 007 and producer Michael Wilson would be taking over the creative rights of the movies.

Last week, it was announced Spider-Man and Harry Potter producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman are to produce the next series in the James Bond franchise for Amazon MGM Studios. With the 007 movies taking a new direction, it was reported that Amazon bosses are hoping to cast a young James Bond – with the new instalment being set in the 50s and 60s.

They are said to be hoping to hire a 20-something actor for the prequels. A TV insider claimed Daniel Craig’s death in the previous 007 film ‘is still fresh in the minds of fans’.

“They can’t just pretend it didn’t happen. So they’re now looking at his story as a younger man in a different era,” they added to The Sun.

Line Of Duty star Daniel Mays recently appeared on the We’re Not Getting Any Younger podcast and shared what he overheard about the upcoming movies.

He said: “I heard a rumour that they’re going to cast someone very young and go back to the origins. They’re going to back to the ’60s and have all the retro cars and that sort of stuff — and start again. I think that would be kind of cool.”

After Amy Pascal and David Heyman were announced to produce the next film in the James Bond series, they said in a joint statement: “James Bond is one of the most iconic characters in the history of cinema.

“We are humbled to follow in the footsteps of Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson who made so many extraordinary films and honoured and excited to keep the spirit of Bond very much alive as he embarks on his next adventure.”

Amazon MGM Studios have agreed a deal with the Broccoli family behind 007 and producer Michael Wilson to take over the creative rights of the movies, in a move likely to end speculation over the future direction of the storied spy franchise.

However, Broccoli and Wilson will remain co-owners of the franchise. It comes following rumours over who may succeed actor Daniel Craig, who last portrayed the iconic James Bond in the 2021 movie, No Time To Die.

Some stars rumoured to join the franchise include the likes of Tom Holland, Leo Woodall, Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Jacob Elordi – who wowed fans in his role in Saltburn.
