Comedian Katherine Ryan opened up about one of Jimmy Carr’s parties where she tried to hit on the late Stephen Hawking
Katherine Ryan revealed she was once ‘mugged off’ by Stephen Hawking after meeting him at one of Jimmy Carr’s party. The 41-year-old star admitted she tried to flirt with the late theoretical physicist, who died aged 76 in 2018, and ‘tried it on with him’.
She appeared on the recent episode of the Nip Tuck podcast with Ashley Stobart and Lauren Adamson and said comedian Jimmy ‘used to have the most amazing parties’ before his children were born’. Jimmy started dating Karoline Copping in 2001 and share a son together. Speaking about one of Jimmy’s parties, Katherine said: “Like Brandon Flowers would be there. Woody Harrelson would be there, Professor Stephen Hawking, Monica Lewinsky, I met Kourtney Kardashian in Jimmy Carr’s living room. He’s like the London Gatsby. It was really fun.”

Host Ashley then asked her: “Stephen Hawking, yes, did he try it on with you?” Katherine confirmed she ‘tried it on with him’ and added: “Because I saw in the film about him that he’s kind of a ladies man.”
“Yeah but then, quite hurtfully he just kind of went quiet, and then his assistant came up and said ‘Oh I’m sorry the professor’s tablet has run out of battery. He can’t talk to you anymore.’ And I was mugged off, and I know it.”
Co-host Lauren responded: “What a great way to f**k someone off. Just saying ‘my batteries gone’.”
Katherine called him a ‘genius’ and continued: “But then I googled it and there’s a backup battery for the tablet in the chairs. So if the chair is moving the battery is working.” Lauren joked that Stephen ‘f**ed her off” before Katherine added ‘he did’.
It comes after Katherine vowed to have a lip lift as she turns her back on filler. The comedian has been open about her experience with cosmetic surgery and revealed she has “got lost in the game” of enhancements.
Katherine was recently been sharing her skin cancer story with her fans. Katherine had stage two melanoma in the past, meaning she was able to recognise the signs in a mole way back in 2022.
On her podcast, she was joined by fellow comedian Joanne McNally as they discussed ageing and cosmetic surgery. Joanne explained she had “dabbled” in filler, but said she was left looking like a “melted baby”.
Joanne was the first guest on the podcast, What’s My Age Again?, where she discussed her own experiences of ageing and Botox.
She said: “I was on TV before I realised you don’t go on TV without Botox. I get everything (Botox) and there’s nothing I don’t do. I think I definitely dabbled in a bit of filler before and then I had a photoshoot for a podcast I was doing back in the day.
“Bad work is like bad breath you don’t see it until you have it reflected to you and you’re like, ‘Oh I look like a melted baby.’ You tinker too hard, you’re like whoops.”
Katherine then revealed her own thoughts on it, sharing: “Yeah, you can get lost in the game. I think physical age like what we’re talking about, the Botox and filler, it has to go – it ages you even more.”
Later, Joanne went to compliment Katherine’s lip, but she quickly replied: “No! They’re botched. It’s been botched. First of all I need a lip lift,” as she opened up about her own experiences.
