Katie Price stunned fans by sharing a video appearing to pick fun at an overweight man, despite having raged about ‘disgusting’ trolls who bully her own son Harvey
Katie Price has been slammed by fans over a controversial video posted on her official Facebook page.
In the video shared on Thursday, an overweight man was filmed struggling to get into a luxury sportscar as comedic music played in the background. His friend pushed him in and closed the door behind him, but the man’s legs didn’t fully fit in the sleek vehicle and he shook his head to show he couldn’t stay inside.
In the comment section of Katie’s post, many of her followers were furious that she’d post the video, especially considering how her son Harvey, 22, has been bullied by trolls online. Harvey has a learning disability alongside septo-optic dysplasia – a disorder of early brain development which has caused partial blindness for Harvey – autism, and Prader-Willi Syndrome – a rare genetic condition which can cause an excessive appetite.
One person took to the comment section of the video shared by Katie to write: “Katie remember this could be someone trolling about Harvey, you should know better! Shame on you!!!!” A second wrote: “Yes I agree considering she took her complaints about online trolling to the courts and allows this to be posted,” reasoning that while Katie might not post all the videos herself she still likely controls the account.
Another fan wrote: “Wow is she really taking the Micky out this lad, wants to remember when she’s going on about people trolling Harvey.”
“Fat shaming people? I remember when it was other way round with Harvey. Shame on you Katie Price!!” a fourth follower blasted.
Fans were particularly angry with Katie’s post seeing as just last summer, the star opened up about how upsetting the treatment of Harvey was by certain online bullies. “We get trolled all the time,” she said. “It’s disgusting, because if people met Harvey, he is such a well-mannered, funny man.”
However, Katie shared her hopes that people were waking up to differences and becoming less cruel. “Because of social media, there is a lot more awareness about learning disabilities and people on TV are talking about it. I think back in the day it was hidden,” she noted.
While fans blasted Katie for her post seeming to mock overweight people, she recently shared that Harvey would be taking Ozempic, while stalling rumours that the drug was responsible for her own sudden weight loss.
Asked head-on whether she’d secretly been taking the drug – which is used treat type 2 diabetes in adults – she said: “No, but Harvey’s going on that. So I’ve had to sit there with the doctors. I think when it comes to things like that, I think because of Harvey and all the medication and that he has, I think people have to be really careful with things like that.
“I don’t need the Ozempic. I never have done. I’ve always been skinny. Look at old pictures of me. Always been tiny.”
