Lady Gaga saw the funny side of things while hosting SNL as she poked fun at Joker 2 receiving bad ratings from critics and jested that her duet with imprisoned R. Kelly has ‘aged well’.

Lady Gaga didn’t hold back as she shed light on her duet with controversial musician R Kelly.

This weekend, the pop mega star hosted US sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live and delivered a hilarious opening monologue, which largely saw her poking fun at herself. The singer was also the show’s musical guest to promote her new album, Mayhem.

Having appeared on the show several times before, Lady Gaga back on last time she hosted, which was over a decade ago and included a steamy performance with R. Kelly – who has since been sentenced to 20 years in prison for sex trafficking and racketeering.

She joked, “I’m so happy to be back at SNL. The last time I hosted was in 2013. And every aspect of my performance aged amazingly. Because there’s no need to Google SNL 2013 featuring R. Kelly.”

After receiving laughs from the studio audience, the singer continued, “I won’t bring it up. Because that would be bad.” Changing the subject to her acting career, Lady Gaga recently starred in Joker: Folie à Deux, which received negative reviews from critics and was even awarded two Razzie awards, a satirical award show that marks the worst films of the year.

Taking the criticism on the chin, she continued, “Anyway, I’m an actor now. And I’ve been very diligent about selecting films that would showcase my craft as a serious actor…films such as Joker 2. “Apparently people thought it was awesome,” she said. “Joaquin and I even got nominated for a Razzie, which is an award for the worst film of the year. We won. For worst screen duo. But joke’s on them. I love winning things.”

Lady Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, has been promoting her new album over recent weeks and opened up to the New York Times in a new interview about being in a positive space after a tough time for her mental health.

Revealing that she experienced psychosis five years ago, the singer said that she experienced psychosis five years ago. She said, “Five years ago, I had psychosis. I was not deeply in touch with reality for a while. It took me out of life in a big way, and after a lot of years of hard work I got myself back.”

Admitting that meeting her now-fiancé, Michael Polansky, marked a turning point, she shared, “It was a hard time, and it was actually really special when I met my partner because when I met Michael, I was in a much better place, but I remember him saying to me, pretty early on, ‘I know you could be a lot happier than you are’.”
