Lily Allen has been open about the breakdown of her marriage to husband David Harbour after she discovered he had a three year affair
Lily Allen has dropped an explosive new album detailing the breakdown of her marriage to actor David Harbour. The songstress discovered that the Stranger Things star had a three year affair during their marriage, as she puts her heartbreak into song in her new album West End Girl.
The 14 tracks, which Lily said she wrote in 10 days, reveal details about the turmoil she went through after finding out David had been unfaithful.
Lily has said that the tracks are part fact-part fiction but some unmistakable details are included. The singer split from David last December after finding his profile on celebrity dating app Raya. Here’s a look at the songs on Lily’s album that discuss what she’s been through.

Title track
The album stars with the title track which describes the couple’s early relationship where they move into a house in New York with Lily’s daughters. She sings about how happy she is to be settling down as she landed the lead role in the 2021 West End show 2:22 A Ghost Story.
The song then cuts to an emotional phone call, with Lily saying: “I miss you. OK, well it doesn’t make me feel great…If that’s what you need to do then…I guess. But how would it work? I mean, it makes me really sad but I want you to be happy. I love you.”
Ruminating
Song Ruminating shows Lily discussing how she was unable to sleep while working in London. She says: “I can’t shake the image of her naked.”
She then sings: “Why can’t you wait for me to come home? This conversation’s too big for a phone call. Ruminating, ruminating, I’ve been up all night. Did you kiss her on the lips, and look into her eyes? Did you have fun? Now that it’s done, baby, won’t you tell me I’m still your number one? ‘Cause you’re my number one.”
Sleepwalking
The third track on the album explores how Lily noticed there was a lack of romance since she got married. She then sings about how she thought at the time that there could be another woman involved.
She sings: “‘Why aren’t we f***ing, baby?’ Yeah, that’s what you said. But you let me think it was me in my head, and nothing to do with them girls in your bed.'”
Relapse and Tennis
Relapse features Lily suggesting that the pair are in an open relationship despite not being keen on the idea herself. “I tried to be your modern wife But the child in me protests,” she sings.
Tennis then discusses the singer preparing a welcome home dinner for an unappreciative partner before she finds texts on his phone from a mystery girl.
“I read your texts, and now I regret it. I can’t get my head round how you’ve been playing tennis. If it was just sex, I wouldn’t be jealous. You won’t play with me, and who’s Madeline?,” Lily says.
She then sings: “I got a lot of information that I can’t even process. So I wrote a little email and I told you what I saw. And then you came up to the bedroom and you made it all my fault.”
Madeline and Just Enough
Madeline features Lily admitting that she messaged the other woman involved in her marriage as she asked: “Is it just sex or is it emotion?”
On ballad Just Enough she opens with the sad lyric “I think you’re in love with somebody else, felt you pull away and now I’m blaming myself.”
P**** Palace
P***y Palace is one of the most explosive songs on the album as Lily describes throwing her partner out of their family home in New York and sending him to his separate West Village apartment.
She turns up at the apartment which “she’d assumed was a dojo… but I realised something don’t feel right….So am I looking at a sex addict?”
In the second verse she says she found a shoebox of letters “from broken hearted women that wished you could have been better” as well as sex toys as she asks “how did I get caught up in your double life?”
