Malta is a beautiful country known for its rich history, stunning landscapes, and vibrant culture – and one of the best places to visit in October

A Mediterranean gem beckoning travellers with its blend of history, scenery, and culture, Malta shines brightly as an autumnal hotspot. The island nation entices visitors in October when it basks in a warm glow, with maximum temperatures soaring to a pleasant 25C – ideal for beach enthusiasts and tourists alike.

The country’s tapestry is rich with the legacies left by the Romans, Moors, Knights of Saint John, and of course, the British. Notably, its capital Valletta, recognised as a World Heritage site by UNESCO, is renowned for its baroque elegance and architectural grandeur.

Charming beaches washed by crystal-clear waters lie beside a cultural mosaic imprinted with historical footprints ranging from ancient Phoenicians to recent British rule. Valletta isn’t just a fortified city; it’s an immense baroque exhibition space, housing an array of museums, churches, and palatial dwellings.

Malta’s allure extends beyond urban landscapes to reveal prehistoric wonders like the agar Qim temples, dramatic coastal cliffs, and picturesque fishing hamlets, reports the Express. Its exciting food scene, vibrant festivals, and sublime diving locations make Malta a must-visit for everyone from history enthusiasts to those chasing the sun.

For those desiring a journey back in time, the ‘Silent City’ of Mdina invites with its medieval streets and hushed beauty. On the TripAdvisor travel forum, an impressed tourist remarked: “Great place for a holiday. This time, it was my third visit, I went to the Silent City.”

“What an interesting place, full of history, and yet still a living city. Great places to eat, fantastic views, and a sense of this has been here for thousands of years. Well worth the time to visit, and worth repeat visits too which you can not always say about everywhere.”

Another holidaymaker added: “If you are looking for an out-of-the-ordinary place to travel to then this should definitely be on your list! I flew from Rome to Malta. The island is pristine and beautiful. The people are friendly and very laid back.”

“Malta is not the place to be if you are in a hurry so if you are going on a tour get an early start as nothing moves quickly in Malta. It is a little on the expensive side but well worth it.”

A third traveller shared: “Malta is a place I go to nearly every year. I first went when my children were small and we were looking for somewhere warm with good beaches that weren’t too expensive. A bonus is that everyone speaks English.”

“We still return to the north of the island because it is quieter than the south. There is something for everyone: prehistoric temples and caves, beautiful churches and architecture, water sports and safe beaches for swimming, an incredible history including the important part that the Maltese people played in W.W.2, great food and drink, night-life for those who want it and most of all there is very little crime and you feel safe where ever you go.”
