Arne Slot’s Liverpool claimed another important win on Saturday, getting the better of Bournemouth, but questions remain over their potential transfer activity in the coming days
Liverpool got another win under their belts on Saturday afternoon, turning the focus back towards potential transfer business.
Mohamed Salah scored both goals as Arne Slot’s team came through a potentially tough test at Bournemouth. The Cherries had their chances, and saw a David Brooks goal disallowed for an offside in the build-up, but Arne Slot’s men got the job done to move nine points clear at the top.
After the game, Salah’s future once again a topic of discussion. The Egyptian is out of contract in the summer, as are team-mates Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, but nothing has been decided just yet.
Salah isn’t the only player in focus for Mirror Football as the transfer window enters its final knockings. Here are the latest lines from around Anfield.
Van Dijk sents Salah message
Virgil van Dijk has made it clear how much he values Mohamed Salah at Liverpool. The Premier League’s leading scorer might be out of contract in the summer, but the skipper appeared to encourage him to stay and break even more records at Anfield.
“Let’s make it more, let’s keep going,” Van Dijk said after Salah’s brace at Bournemouth. “He has obviously been amazing for the football club over all those years.
“I see the hard work he puts in, but the numbers speak for itself. It’s an outstanding performance, but he is a phenomenal player.”
Reds in the mix for Quenda
Manchester United appeared to be leading the race for Sporting CP star Geovany Quenda, but Record (via Sport Witness) suggest we can’t rule Liverpool out just yet. The teenager has thrived in Portugal, prompting talk of a reunion with United boss Ruben Amorim.
Earlier reports suggesting Quenda had already agreed a United move appear to be a little wide of the mark. Indeed, Liverpool and Manchester City – as well as United – are reported to have held “informal talks” over the player.

Quenda, who only turned 17 in April, has been a regular for Sporting this term. He was also called up to Portugal’s senior side during the autumn for their UEFA Nations League matches, but didn’t make it onto the pitch.
‘Agent’ Szoboszlai gets fans talking
Liverpool fans got all the more excited about a potential summer move for Milos Kerkez after Dominik Szoboszlai shared a post-match photo with his fellow Hungarian. Bournemouth left-back Kerkez has been mentioned as a potential long-term successor to Andy Robertson, and impressed in flashes on Saturday.
Fans encouraged the midfielder to undertake “agent” duties and convince his compatriot to move to Anfield. While Kerkez wouldn’t come cheap, some have noticed it was Reds transfer chief Richard Hughes who took him to Bournemouth in the first place in 2023.
Manchester United and Manchester City have also been linked with the 21-year-old, who moved to the Vitality Stadium after a breakout season with AZ. However, Liverpool is reported to be his preferred destination
