Shaun Davies, 40, died after being hit by a car in Greater Manchester on Wednesday last week. His heartbroken family described him as a ‘much-loved son, brother and uncle’
A “loving and caring” man has tragically died after being hit by a car in Tameside, his family and the police have confirmed.
Shaun Davies, 40, was killed on Stockport Road in the Ashton-under-Lyne area in Greater Manchester at around 11.55pm on April 24. Officers rushed to the scene following reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a car, and confirmed that Mr Davies said.
Now, the victim’s family paid tribute to Mr Davies describing him as a “much-loved son, brother and uncle” who was “kind, caring and loving”. In their tribute, released today, the family said: “We sadly lost our beloved brother Shaun to a hit and run on the 24th April.
“He was a much-loved son, brother and uncle. Shaun was such a beautiful kind person who had a loving and caring character to him.
“He brought laughter and smiles to anyone he was around. As it was a very unexpected death to the family we have set up a GoFundMe page to give Shaun the send off he deserves. Us as a family ask for privacy at this time to grieve in peace. Thank you.”
A 29-year-old man was arrested on the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Police said a 23-year-old man later himself in, reports the Manchester Evening News. He was also arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Both have since been released on bail as investigations into the incident continue.
After the collision on Wednesday evening, a cordon was put in place on Stockport Road near to the junction with William Street. Pictures showed officers from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit carrying out work within the cordon as the road was closed for several hours.
Debris from the incident could be seen on the road. A Specialist Operations Incident Command van was also pictured on the scene.
