An online cleaning expert has shared her hack for getting your oven sparkling clean using a cheap common item you probably already have at home.

The oven door is one cleaning job that can get overlooked leading to a baked-on layer of brown grime that can be a nightmare to shift, requiring caustic oven cleaners and plenty of scrubbing. But creator Chantel Mila, known as @mama_mila on TikTok, has shared a way you can get your oven door sparking in just 10 minutes using one unusual product.

The savvy mum from Melbourne, Australia shared the clever hack in a video titled ‘Three cleaning hacks you’ll wish you tried earlier’ with her 1.5million followers. She told viewers you can cut through the built-up grease on the inside of the oven just using a normal dishwasher tablet and a sponge – a hack she said will be sure to “clean your oven quickly”.

In the video, the Australian mum demonstrated how she had used the hack in her own oven, which was left sparkly clean after just minutes. Impressed social media users took to the comments to share their thoughts, with one person saying: “Just tried the dishwasher tablet trick and it’s impressive! Way better than the strong smelling oven cleaner.”

Another simply said: “That’s awesome,” and a third added: “You literally save my life every day.” Currently a cheap cleaning sponge from Morrison’s will set you back about 60p while Lidl ’s W5 brand dishwasher tablets cost £4.05 for a pack of 50 making this a cheap and effective way of getting the shine back into your oven.

Meanwhile other online cleaning hacks doing the rounds include Chantel’s trick for getting rid of mould using a homemade formula, that will banish mould and prevent it coming back. All you need is three ingredients – one cup of white vinegar, 20 drops of clove oil, 20 drops of tea tree oil. According to the Melbourne-based creator, the acidity in the vinegar will help rid the mould spores, while the clove oil also has anti-fungal properties. Lastly, the tea tree oil will prevent the nasty infestation from coming back.
