A woman in her 30s has sadly died days after a road traffic collision in Mullion, Cornwall, police said, and a child remains in hospital in a serious life-threatening condition

A woman has sadly died following a road traffic collision with a double decker school bus in Cornwall.

Officers were called to reports of a collision involving a silver Vauxhall Astra and a double decker school bus on the B3296 in Meaver Road, Mullion, at round 8.40am on October 14. As a result of the collision, the two occupants of the Vauxhall – a local woman in her 30s and a young male child – sustained life-threatening injuries.

Devon and Cornwall Police now confirmed that the woman has since passed away in hospital. The child remains at Bristol Children’s Hospital in a serious life-threatening condition. Their next of kin are aware, the police said.

The police force added: “Twenty seven children on the school bus sustained minor injuries and one child from the bus sustained serious injuries but these are not life threatening. Officers from the Roads Policing Team would like to thank the public for their patience whilst investigations took place.”

Sergeant Phil Brown from the Serious Collisions Investigation Team said: “We are working in conjunction with the school and our partners to ensure everybody receives the support they need following this tragic incident. Our thoughts continue to be with everybody involved.”
