The body of a 65-year-old man has been found dead at a house in Wigan with emergency services having rushed to the property today after a concern for welfare report

A man was tragically found dead inside a house with his death currently being treated as ‘unexplained’.

Fire crews, police and paramedics, attended the scene on Riding Close in Hindley, Wigan, at around 11.45am following a concern for welfare report of a man inside an address. Entry had to be forced to the semi-detached property by emergency services.

Tragically the body of a 65-year-old man was found dead inside after fire crews had burst down the door to gain entry. Investigations are ongoing into his cause of death, Greater Manchester Police confirmed. It is unknown how long the man had been deceased for when emergency crews were called out to the residential street on Monday morning.

Neighbours reported that a fire engine, two ambulances and two police vehicles attended, and then a police car stayed outside the house for the remainder of the day on Monday. There was an officer guarding the front door until council staff were seen arriving to carry out their work.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: “Officers were called to a report of a concern for the welfare of a man at an address on Riding Close in Hindley at around 11.45am yesterday morning (Monday, January 27). Emergency services attended and a 65-year-old man was, sadly, found dead at the scene. His death is currently being treated as unexplained.”
