Manchester United are expected to have a very busy summer as Ruben Amorim looks to revamp his squad after a hugely disappointing season so far, with the Red Devils currently 14th in the league and on course for their worst-ever Premier League campaign.

United could rescue their season somewhat by winning the Europa League, which would see them earn a spot in next season’s Champions League, and the club are ready to back Amorim in the transfer market.

“It is about planning properly for the summer transfer window and having a clear idea of what players we want to bring in,” Berrada told TNT Sports last month. “We’re making some big efforts to get us in the best financial position. Even if we’re outside of Europe – I think we will be in a position to invest in the squad.”

With that in mind, Mirror Football has taken a look at some of the latest news and rumours from Old Trafford…‌

Rashford hint

Amorim has offered a lifeline to Marcus Rashford and claimed the forward could still have a future at Old Trafford, despite being shipped out on loan to Aston Villa in the January transfer window.

“All the players on loan will return and then the club will decide what to do at the end of the season,” Amorim said on Friday. “When you put a player on loan the best thing is for them to perform.

“All these [loan] players have talent and they have to put that on the team. The talent of Rashford, the talent of Antony, they all have talent. We are really happy because if you put players on loan you want them to perform. That is good for us.”

Cunha latest

United are eyeing a £62.5million move for Wolves star Matheus Cunha this summer but Amorim has refused to be drawn on the club’s interest in the forward, who has scored 14 league goals this season.

“I will not say nothing about Matheus, because if I say I have to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ and not comment on that,” Amorim said when asked about Cunha. “It’s Manchester United. What I feel is there are a lot of players that want to play for our club.

“If you look at our club at the moment, with all the problems, changing the coach, it looks a little bit of a problem. But we have a clear idea and that’s the easiest part to explain for a player. So it’s [still] Manchester United and every player wants to play for Manchester United.”

Dalot blow

Diogo Dalot could miss the rest of the season after Amorim confirmed that the full-back has picked up a muscle injury. Speaking ahead of United’s trip to Bournemouth on Sunday, Amorim said: “Diogo Dalot is out.

“We don’t know for how long he is out, but he is out for these next games so we will have to see. There is that possibility but we will check week by week because he works really hard and he can recover well.

“He has something in his muscle, on his calf. He had a sequence of games that he played at the time. We try to manage the load on the players who had to play a lot of minutes and Diogo felt something.”
