A 16-year-old girl has pledged never to eat at McDonald’s again after she ordered a chicken burger from McDonald’s on Rice Lane in Walton, Liverpool and was disgusted by her meal

McDonald’s has been forced to apologise

McDonald’s has been forced to apologise after a young girl was so disgusted by her meal he vowed to “never eat McDonald’s again”.

John Cooney’s 16-year-old daughter had ordered a chicken burger from the Rice Lane outlet in Walton on Wednesday, October 22. She placed the order through the McDonald’s delivery app just after the breakfast menu had ended at around 11.30am.

However, when it arrived shortly afterwards, John said his daughter found a speck of “green mould” on the top of the burger bun. The father shared photos with the ECHO showing a green spot on the burger bun.

John lodged a complaint with McDonald’s on behalf of his daughter and was offered a replacement meal. A spokesperson for McDonald’s has also issued an apology to the customer, reports the Liverpool Echo.

However, he told the ECHO that his daughter declined the replacement and has pledged to “never eat a McDonald’s again”. He stated: “She didn’t want another meal, it’s disgusting. It was a £15 order with delivery, it’s not good enough. She is already fussy about food as it is.”

A spokesperson for McDonald’s commented: “Food safety is of the utmost importance to us, and we place strong emphasis on quality control, following rigorous standards to prevent any imperfections. We’re sorry that on this occasion we have fallen short of the high standards we set ourselves.

“As soon as the restaurant team were made aware, they apologised to the customer, offered a full refund and replacement meal, and initiated a full investigation.”

It comes after McDonald’s released it’s eight new limited menu edition menu items from around the world. There are burgers from Canada and Australia, McNuggets and drinks from Japan, sides from Poland and the United Arab Emirates, plus desserts from Malaysia and Indonesia.

The new menu launched on Wednesday October 22 and will be around for six weeks. See a list of the new items below:
