Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, was the subject of an acknowledgement by TV producer Lindsay Jill Roth in her book called Romances & Practicalities: A Love Story (Maybe Yours!) in 250 Questions
Meghan Markle’s longtime pal Lindsay Jill Roth has left the royal a poignant dedication in her new book.
The TV producer made the special nod to the duchess in her book Romances & Practicalities: A Love Story (Maybe Yours!) in 250 Questions, which was released today.
But it is understood Meghan, 43, is yet to read the acknowledgement, which Lindsay penned in a homage to her friend’s “deep loyalty and understanding”.
The dedication reads: “Meghan Sussex, Meg, to be sisters by choice, still thinking the same thing at the same time after all these years — no matter how many miles between us — is my favorite part of our unbreakable bond. There for each other always, sharing a deep loyalty and understanding — I could tell you anything, and it would be okay. I carry your heart (I carry it in my heart).”
Lindsay, who also works in event management, met Meghan during their time at at Northwestern University. Lindsay told People she didn’t share the dedication message with Markle prior to the book’s release.
“I have saved that as a little token for her to see when the book comes out. I think it’s rare to find friends who love you unconditionally, and I’ve been lucky in my life to have a few who I truly consider family. It’s almost like those words aren’t enough,” the author added.
In 2021, Lindsay defended the Duchess of Sussex after Markle’s former aides accused her of bullying. Roth said Markle has “always” operated from a place of “kindness” and “goodwill.”
Writing at the time, the TV producer penned: “I know this to be true after 22 years of very close friendship. I have seen firsthand how she treats her friends and their families, and her colleagues,” she wrote at the time.
“If she’s driving with you in the passenger seat, she will fling her right arm in front of you at the slightest bump in a gesture of love to ensure your safety. If you have a specific goal, she will help you get there, and your passions will become hers on your behalf.”
She continued: “If you ever have the pleasure of meeting Meg — and I hope more of you do — you will see the altruistic, magnanimous friend who I am so lucky to have in my corner.”
