Miley Cyrus is planning to keep out of the ongoing drama surrounding her family as tensions between her dad Billy Ray and her brother Trace hit an all time low
Miley Cyrus is planning to keep her distance from her dad Billy Ray Cyrus.
In recent years, the musicians have had a strained relationship, with sources claiming that Grammy winning singer Miley has no relationship with the Achy Breaky Heart hitmaker. It’s claimed that she and the country icon have not been close to one another “for a long time.”
But tensions between the famous family have recently hit an all time low after Billy Ray’s performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration. Billy Ray’s performance was branded a “trainwreck” with those closest to him saying they didn’t recognise the singer. His performance didn’t go as smooth sailing as he might have hoped as it was plagued by technical difficulties. As he tried to mark Trump’s return to the White House, he ended up performing song Old Town Road without proper equipment. Struggling with the issues, he tried singing a cappella but was overheard asking the crew if his guitar was working.
Speaking to People magazine, a source said: “Miley used to feel overwhelmed by the family drama. She worked hard to remove herself. She’s not about to get involved again. She’s in a great place now. She’s thriving and looking out for herself.” Meanwhile, another source told Page Six that she is keeping herself out of the drama and won’t be contacting her dad any time soon.
However, they added that Miley had caught Billy Ray’s performance at The Capitol and found it “concerning”, while younger sister Noah is also “concerned” but loves her father “unconditionally.” Miley, however, has previously praised her dad, famously on David Letterman’s Netflix series, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.
She said: “He has a relationship and a foot on the ground to the real and to nature and he always did, even when he was super famous. I’m grateful for being able to watch him ahead of me. He’s almost given me this map. And there’s a map of what to do and what not to do, and he’s guided me on both,” before adding that she “inherited the narcissism” from her dad.
Earlier this week, Billy Ray’s son Trace has since claimed he “barely recognises” his famous dad and shared a photo of him joining Billy on stage when he was younger. Trace is the son of Billy’s ex wife Tish Cyrus and Bexter Neal Helson. When he was four-years-old, Billy adopted him. In his desperate plea, Trace wrote: “Since my earliest memories all I can remember is being obsessed with you and thinking you were the coolest person ever.
“I wanted to be just like you. The day you adopted me was the happiest day of my life. Sadly the man that I wanted so desperately to be just like I barely recognize now. It seems this world has beaten you down and it’s become obvious to everyone but you. You may be upset with me for posting this but I really could care less at this point.
“Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years but you’ve pushed all of us away. Noah desperately has wanted you to be a part of her life and you haven’t even been there for her. That’s your baby girl. She deserves better. Somehow just like me she still idolizes you though.”
