Chocolate fans have been obsessed with getting their hands on the viral Dubai chocolate – and now supermarket giant Morrisons are stocking their own version, leaving fans all making the same comment

If you have not managed to get your hands on the viral Dubai chocolate, Morrisons is now stocking its very own version – which has divided opinion.

Last year, chocolate lovers went wild for a thick milk chocolate filled with pistachio crème, pistachio nut paste and toasted kunafa, a winning combination first concocted in Dubai. The chocolate trend began to sweep social media in 2021 after Fix Dessert Chocolatier founder Sarah Hamouda’s fusion of modern sweets with traditional Middle Eastern flavours and regional desserts went viral.

Nicknamed ‘Dubai Style Chocolate’, the obsession with the treat saw fans some Brits travelling 4,000 miles to get their hands on it – and others tried to make their own at home and share their recipes online. But, conveniently, some shops are now making their own versions. Lindt announced their new Dubai Style Chocolate bars last month. But they don’t come cheap as customers will have to pay £10 to get their hands on one.

Now, Morrisons have jumped on board. The supermarket have launched their Flair Pistachio Kunafa Dubai Chocolate Cake Bar. The treat costs £4 for a 55g serving and fans have been sharing their reactions.

However, the treat has divided opinion. People commented on popular food page New Foods UK’s post on Instagram, after a picture of the chocolate bars was shared recently.

One chocolate fan who was pleased with the treat said: “Worth every penny as I’ve spent £65.00 on one large bar from another company and enjoyed this better for under £5.” One individual said: “It tastes soooo good but it way too expensive.”

“I personally think it’s horrid…and not worth the £4,” added another. “It’s not worth the money,” agreed another. Another noted: “£4 – a food bar but not paying that.”

One other shared their review of the treat, and said: “Honestly I tried these and thought they were vile – I love the Dubai chocolate off TikTok etc but these are cheaply made! £4 a bar is insane!”

“Very overrated and way overpriced,” added another. On Facebook, another said: “These bars are super dry… I make my own and it’s amazing.” Another said: “My verdict was that unfortunately they look on the wrapper much better than they taste.”

One other added: “I would prefer to put the money towards a good quality Dubai chocolate bar or ingredients to make my own.” “Expensive and quiet dry,” another critiqued.

The Dubai Style Chocolate is not listed on Morrisons website but can be found in stores. Morrisons has been contacted for comment.
