Fans of cleaning guru Mrs Hinch have found a cheep and cheerful trick to ‘melt’ air fryer grease away in minutes without having to scrub – and it’ll only set you back 12p

‘Melt’ stubborn grease off your air fryer with this ‘life-saving’ trick.

As great as they are for those late night chip cravings or for the creatives among us who love to make dishes like pepperoni pizza toasties and a quick but delicious chocolate cake – air fryers are a total nightmare to clean. Just like conventional ovens, they quickly become clogged with grease and burnt scraps of food that etches onto the basket and can start to smell.

Luckily, a cleaning enthusiast has found a 12p hack to get rid of all the grime without having to spend hours scrubbing. In fact, this minimal-effort job is as simple as ‘soak, rinse, and wipe’. So, what are you waiting for?

Taking to the popular Facebook page Mrs Hinch Army Cleaning Tips, which has more than 470,000 members at the time of writing, one woman raved about a new hack she discovered after seeing a recommendation in the group. “Whoever said using a dishwasher tablet for the air fryer is a lifesaver,” she said, according to the Express.

“The pieces of food stuck to the tray were impossible to remove with just scrubbing. Just a five-minute soak with boiling hot water, a rinse and wipe and the job was done. The grease had just melted away. I don’t even have a dishwasher, but picked these up very cheap and thought they could be used for some cleaning hacks I’ve seen on this page.”

You can pick dish washer tablets up from your nearest supermarket or general store, and are best buying larger quantitates to save in the long run For example, Tesco is selling a pack of 110 for £14, which works out around 12p per tablet.

Earlier this year, cleaning ace Ciara Turley went viral for her ‘toxic free cleaning hack’ in response to a slew of Brits heating washing up liquid and water in their air-fryer to clean their appliance – despite the fire risk. Instead, Ciara advises adding a ‘squirt’ of washing-up liquid in the air fryer basket (removed from the appliance completely) as well as a tablespoon of baking powder. She then fills the basket up with boiling water and leaves it alone for 20 minutes.

“I do this all the time, it’s brilliant,” one viewer raved in the comments section. “Just doing this now! Great way for a deep clean,” another hailed, while a third added: “This is amazing. Makes it so easy to clean [my] air fryer.”
