I’ve been wearing Superga’s ankle length wellies for my winter dog walks and they’re the perfect waterproof boots to keep my feet dry in the rain and snow – and they have 20% off

As any dog owner knows, the winter is a nightmare for getting out and about each day. With the rain and snow settling in, there’s nothing worse than trudging home with wet feet, which is why I was in desperate need of a pair of great waterproof boots to wear.

Although I own several great pairs of knee high wellies, they can be a nightmare to get on and off, especially if you just want to nip out at lunch time. That’s why when I spotted the Superga 798 Rubber Boots Mid – with a 20% discount, no less – they seemed like a great choice.

Now on sale for £64 rather than £80, the Superga 798 Rubber Boots Mid are so comfortable and easy to get on and off. Rather than a full-length welly, these ankle length versions are ideal for quickly pulling on when you want to head out the door, and I don’t need to worry about cramming wide leg jeans into them or swapping to leggings to make them fit.

They have a pull tab that makes them easy to remove (perfect for whipping off at the door) and they’re still long enough to tackle long wet grass or puddles without getting your ankles wet. The Superga 798 Rubber Boots Mid also have all the hallmarks of wellies, with rubber uppers that makes them completely waterproof.

One downside is, just like normal wellies, they don’t keep your feet particularly warm, but a thick pair of socks was enough to stop my feet getting too cold whilst out in the snow. The soles are also incredibly grippy, and stopped me slipping and sliding on ice and wet leaves.

The Superga 798 Rubber Boots Mid are available in sizes 3.5 to 7, with some half sizes available throughout. I opted for a half size bigger than I’d usually get, and I was glad I did as it gave me room for thicker socks without being too tight or uncomfortable.

I’ve also worn them for lengthy walks and my feet haven’t ached once – something which usually happens when wearing wellies for too long. Although I chose the black pair, you can also get them in dark brown or green, which are perfect for heading out into the countryside.

If you want to bring a little colour into your winter wardrobe, however, these Tully Ankle Wellington Boots from Merry People , £99.95, come in a variety of bold shades like pink, red, green and blue, and have a similar style and length to my go-to Supergas. They also have arch support, are 100% vegan and have a warm neoprene lining to help keep your toes toasty.

If you’re worried about your feet feeling cold, these Aubrey Fur Lined Welly Boots form Barbour are £65 and have a cosy faux-fur lining inside to give you some extra insulation and warmth whilst out in the winter weather. They also have a similar ankle length and pull on style, making them ideal for the colder months or even festivals.
