Netflix subscribers have taken to social media to share the ‘must-watch’ series most users scroll past, saying they’re well worth the watch over on a cold winter’s night
While most Netflix users have seen Squid Games, Stranger Things, and Breaking Bad, there’s a good number of ‘hidden’ titles still going under some users’ radar. It prompted a group of Netflix users to share the ‘must-watch series’ everyone seems to scroll past in their search for something new to watch – and it’s enough to kickstart your 2025 with some great TV.
Taking to Reddit, a user said: “What are some must-watch series on Netflix? I loved Prison Break, Blacklist and Lucifer. I’d like something in that area of series. Any recommendations?” Following this, the user was inundated with responses from Netflix subscribers all pitching shows for him to watch, saying they’re easy to scroll right past on the platform’s home screen.
Sharing a suggestion with a similar ‘vibe’ to Squid Games, one user said: “Alice in Borderland. Thought it was amazing.” Commenting on this, another user agreed: “I’m not sure of the hype for the Squid Games but Alice in Borderland was riveting.” Another user added: “Ozark is really great. It has a little vibe of Breaking Bad but it’s money laundering for a big Mexican cartel in rural Mississippi.”
Listing their top three favourites, a third user said: “The Last Kingdom (like Game of thrones but better, and weirdly underrated). The Bodyguard – a close ended mini series type show, great story arc, great acting. 1983 – again, a mini series type close ended show where everything ties together at the end.”
Suggesting a satirical drama series, one more user added: “The Young Pope. Jude Law is fantastic. I started watching it a second time and it blew my mind. I had an epiphany as to what it actually meant. If anyone here has watched it, or is going to watch it, please let me know what you think!”

For those who enjoyed Squid Games in 2021, they might want to clear their calendar for Boxing Day as series 2 is set to be released. Squid Games season 1 introduced fans to the K-drama’s titular deadly game, which forces citizens to gamble with their lives.
In return, they may win a world-changing cash prize – or suffer dire consequences. Down-on-his-luck Gi-hun will continue to lead the series, and season 2 picks up after his jaw-dropping decisions in the season 1 finale.
Director Hwang Dong-hyuk said: “Season 2 explores how Gi-hun follows through on his words after leaving the airport. Gi-hun’s endeavour to find out who these people are and why they do what they do is the core story of season 2.”
