Newsboy fancies his nap, H Key Lails, to win at Chelmsford and also hopes Otago can score at Brighton and complete his Daily Double
H KEY LAILS is fancied to net compensation for two recent near-misses by landing the Betfair Safer Gambling Tools Handicap (5.45) at Chelmsford City on Thursday.
Michael Attwater’s grey has a good record at the Essex Showground – he has one victory, three seconds and a third to show for his eight visits.
H Key Lails gained the win from a British Horseracing Authority mark of 57 over course and distance in February, beating Reverberation by a short head.
The four-year-old son of Washington DC competes from the exact same rating here, and arrives in form after podium efforts, again over Chelmsford’s mile, on his last two starts.
At Brighton, OTAGO has plenty going for him in the Free Digital Racecard At raceday-ready.com Handicap (4.20).
Jim Boyle’s seven-year-old has held his form well this season and gained reward for a string of placed efforts with a neck margin from On Song over this course and distance two outings ago.
Charlie Bennett’s mount didn’t match that form with an eighth of 11 under a penalty back in East Sussex eight days later.
But that was Otago’s third run in 16 days and, after a month’s break – and back on soft ground – better is expected here.
