In a world filled with screen scrolling, puzzles and optical illusions are probably the best you can do to give your mind a break from information overload.

Puzzles and optical illusions are not just entertainment, but a commitment to them can sharpen your mind and enhance your cognitive skills. Engaging with these visual challenges not only boosts mental agility but also encourages critical thinking. Research shows that consistently tackling difficult puzzles can improve problem-solving abilities and focus. While these activities may not prevent conditions like dementia, they do provide valuable neurological stimulation, contributing to overall brain health.

In an optical illusions posted to PicPsy TikTok a channel with just under 400k likes on the popular social media site, which posts content about optical illusions, one video explains how your perception of an illusion can reflect your personality. The video asks the viewer to consider what they see first and then goes on to explain what the illusion means for those who see a camera and then those who see a lion.

The narrator adds: “Take a moment to consider what you see first: if it’s a camera, this might indicate you have a serious, rational mindset. This perspective often comes with a tendency to stick to established norms and resist change. While you might be perceived as difficult to engage with, this stems from your meticulous nature—believing that too much flexibility can lead to uncertainty. Independent and tenacious, you’re someone who stands firm in challenging situations. Emotionally, you may keep your guard up, not out of distrust, but from a desire to protect your feelings.”

It then goes on to describe the second illusion seen by viewers, adding: “On the flip side, if the first image that catches your eye is a lion, this reflects a more adventurous and pragmatic character. Those who identify with the lion often have lofty expectations for life and place a high value on personal freedom, both in thought and action. You likely believe that first impressions reveal a person’s true essence, extending trust to those who present themselves well. This doesn’t mean you’re superficial; rather, you understand that a person’s outer appearance often mirrors their inner self. You also have an appreciation for beauty in everyday life, finding joy in the small, delightful things around you, especially in nature.”

Those in the comments have mostly commented that they can see a “lion,” whilst a second person who saw both parts of the illusion said their first thought was: “Why is there a camera in a lion.” A third person said: “Why is there a camera in a lion” first thought.”
