People on X, formerly Twitter, were left completely mind-blown after discovering the actual name for one common symbol on the computer – so did you know about it?

Nowadays you can learn pretty much anything on social media.

Recently, people realised there was a 27th letter in the alphabet which left many utterly mind-blown. It comes as one man decided to give everyone a lesson on TikTok. Now let’s get a bit technical as X, formerly Twitter, fans just realised the name for a common symbol.

On social media, the iconic page Today Years Old wrote: “How old were you when you learned this thing had a name?” In the picture, it showed the throbber, which is also known as the loading icon. It’s usually the last thing you want to see when you’re saving some work.

The account, which boasts 1million followers, shared it on X recently and garnered 156,400 views. And it’s safe to say many people couldn’t believe it. One joked: “No icon has caused more grief, anger and resentment in recent history.”

Another added: “What? That’s a spinner. I’ve been in numerous UI design reviews over the years I have never heard it referred to as this. I need to ask someone about this next week.” A third wrote: “I always called it the weeble wheel.”

And a fourth admitted: “Today years old.” And someone else questioned: “It had a name?” It’s safe to say it completely blew our minds too, so did you know the icon had a name?

In other revelations, it was revealed Nestle didn’t actually invent all the treats in the UK. On a TikTok clip, a user noted Rowntree’s is an “iconic” British brand that’s not talked about enough.

He claims it should be thought about a lot more, as it’s actually responsible for making many of the delicious sweet treats us Brits munch on. Elijah said: “My rule of thumb is, if you’re eating it, it’s probably made by Rowntree’s. You’re probably thinking ‘how can you see Nestle, not Rowntree’s on the packaging of the products?'”
