Tenerife is the top tourist destination in the Canaries and one of the most attractive with its miles of beaches and perfect weather but one in particular stood out for holidaymakers

Holidaymakers visiting the Canary Islands this year to top up their tans will be able to visit Tenerife’s best beach, according to reviews on Tripadvisor.

Tenerife is the top tourist destination in the Canaries and one of the most attractive with its miles of beaches and perfect weather. With temperatures warming up to 22C as early as April and a whopping 28C in July and August the island is a paradise for beach lovers and sun worshipers alike.

What better place to soak up some sun, sand and sea than the spot that review site TripAdvisor claims is the best beach on the entire island. Playa Del Duque has been praised online for being “pristine” and “perfect” with “lovely sand” and “great restaurants” The Star reports. Visitors raved about the beach, giving it 4.5 stars out of 5.

With soft sand, bright blue water and plenty of swimming and sunbathing spots it is easy to see why Playa Del Duque was a hit with visitors. Tourists can rent sun loungers and parasols or sample watersports such as jet skiing, parasailing and snorkelling. Whale watching boats are common to spot on the water, with whales and dolphins frequent visitors to the coastal waters.

Holidaymakers raved about the “perfect” beach, dubbing it “best” on the island. One Tripadvisor reviewer said: “Great beach for swimming, sunbathing, soft sand and children. Always plenty room. Chairs and parasols to hire and not far to walk. Good quality restaurants very near and booking essential.”

While another added that it was the “best in Tenerife” stating: “There’s no doubt about it that Playa Del Duque is the most exclusive resort with the best beach in Tenerife. The bar, restaurant, beach lounger, shopping prices reflect this. The sand is golden not black, as this is a man made beach.

“Lovely comfortable sun loungers with thick cosy cushions. Landscaping all around, a few lovely cafes and a galleria with gorgeous ice cream. Water sports sports area. Safe for swimming and life guard on duty. A safe place to enjoy your holiday. My favourite place in Tenerife.”

A third commented: “Charming intimate sandy beach in the south of Tenerife on the Costa Adeje. Masseuses offering massages at various prices. We had a back and neck massage which was 10 euros for about 15 minutes. The cocktail boy was also a welcome [addition] – shopkeeper supplying a number of well-made mojitos for 5 euros each.

“The bay to the beach was surrounded by rocks at each end and depending on the time of day the waves can be quite big with strong currents, but they balance that with other times when the water is quite calm. There is a beach bar if you get hungry and shops within walking distance. A beautiful sun trap and a beautiful day in the sun at the beach.” The beach is easily accessible from nearby areas like Costa Adeje, Playas de las Americas and La Caleta.
