This beautiful cathedral city has everything going for it already – but on top of that, it’s now been named the art capital of England|

A picture-perfect town in the UK is rising through the ranks of holiday listings due to its beautiful architecture, postcard worthy scenery and blossoming art scene.

Lincoln, a cathedral city in Lincolnshire, has just been found to be the top destination for art lovers due to its proliferation of museums, galleries and art courses – but it’s not just the culture that has people flocking to this gorgeous city.

Global courier delivery service PACK & SEND analysed 72 cities in the UK to determine the ultimate destination for a wonderful cultural experience – and Lincoln came out on top.

It’s rich in history from the stunning cathedral which towers over the city, to the original copies of the 1215 Magna Carta which are available to view in the vault below it.

There’s beautiful parks, a high street packed with independent shops and boutiques and the highest number of antique shops outside of London, with 142 different shops to choose from. Lincoln also has a number of museums and galleries to wander through, a time-capsule cottage offering a window into the past, a castle built by William the Conqueror and “the most beautiful room in England” hidden away in the Wren Library.

And if you want a more hands-on artistic experience, then Lincoln is also worth a visit. The city’s art courses are highly diverse and have an average cost of £23.35. They are perfect for those wanting to learn pottery, participate in contemporary art, or create something abstract to admire later.
