An expert has warned that Meghan Markle’s recent decision with Archie may cause ‘alarm bells’ for Prince Harry. It comes as the Duchess faces setbacks with her new brand
It’s an interesting time for Meghan Markle. Just a few days ago, she surprised fans by announcing the relaunch of her delayed lifestyle brand, changing its name from ‘American Riviera Orchard’ to ‘As Ever’. And to mark the occasion, she returned to Instagram to share a photo of a mood-board filled with hidden Easter eggs.
Meghan captioned her post: “From memory lane to the memories I’m making today…”. And fans were quick to hone in on specific features, including a number of motivational quotes, labels for raspberry jam, and a special tribute to her beloved dog Guy, who recently passed away.
The board also included a sweet contribution from her son Archie. At the very bottom is a green star that appears to be made by the five-year-old, and features his handwritten name as well as some swirls and other drawings.
Explaining her new brand name, Meghan told her followers: “Last year, I thought, you know, American Riviera, that sounds like such a great name – it’s my neighbourhood, it’s a nickname for Santa Barbara – but it limited me to things that were manufactured and grown in this area.
“Then Netflix came on, not just as my partner in the show, but as my partner in my business, which was huge. So I thought about it, and I’ve been waiting for a moment to share a name that I had secured in 2022, and this is the moment, it’s called As Ever.
“As Ever essentially means as it’s always been, and if you’ve followed me since 2014 with The Tig, you know I’ve always loved cooking, and crafting, and gardening. This is what I do and I haven’t been able to share it in the same way for the past few years but now I can.”
It comes after Meghan’s fans noticed that the Duchess has started to share more photos of her two children, Archie and Lilibet. Since launching her new Instagram account on New Year’s Day, the mum-of-two has shared various clips and pictures of the kids, via her account.
A picture of Meghan and Lilibet is also featured on the website for her new brand, asever.com. But, according to some experts, this could ‘trigger alarm bells’ for husband Harry.
The Duke, 40, is known to be extremely protective over his children – and both he and Meghan have said in the past that they want to keep them out of the spotlight.
Royal expert Duncan Larcombe told OK!: “Given Harry’s views on publicity, fans were probably shocked to see Lilibet again so soon. If Harry could wave a magic wand, I think he’d want a world where his children would never be recognised or seen as public property in any way, because he hated that himself. He’s wrestled with it his whole life. But Meghan is building a brand, and that is somewhat at odds with a life out of the limelight, so this is where alarm bells might start to ring down the line for Harry.
“She’s sharing their children tentatively, but it’s a very big deal because it’s a tap they won’t get to turn off. When their children are young adults hanging out in Hollywood, they’ll be gazing into cameras left, right and centre, because the royal thing won’t go away. The royals are famous before they’re born, they’re famous all their lives, and they’re famous after their deaths. Their celebrity never fades.”
Meghan has faced some major setbacks since the announcement of her rebrand. She is reportedly banned from marketing clothing under her newly launched ‘As Ever’ brand due to its resemblance to a budget-friendly Chinese fashion retailer, while the mayor of a town in Mallorca has claimed Meghan ‘copied’ its coat of arms when revealing her new logo, which shows a palm tree flanked by two hummingbirds.
