Footage has emerged on social media showing Prince Harry being pulled along on a jet ski before expertly riding a wave at a ‘surf ranch’ in California ran by surfing superstar Kelly Slater

Prince Harry has been seen showing off his incredible surfing skills after footage emerged online showing him expertly riding a wave.

The eye-popping video shows the Duke of Sussex being pulled along by a jet-ski before being let go and leaping up onto his surfboard where he gains his balance as an instructor shouts words of encouragement. It emerged online after being posted to Instagram by surfer Raimana Van Bastolaer, with the clip being filmed at a ‘surf ranch’ in Leeemore, California that is run by surfing superstar Kelly Slater.

Posting the clip, Van Bastolaer who is best known for his riding incredible waves in Tahiti, wrote: “In Tahiti, we still call you Prince Harry. But at Surf Ranch, it’s my brother. It was an honour to have you surf with me and Kelly Slater.” The clip was posted early this morning and has gone viral on social media.

And it prompted fans of the prince to take to X, where they all said the footage showed how much Harry was enjoying life in California. One wrote: “Prince Harry in America living his California dream life”, while another said: “Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex surfing and thriving in California.” One even wrote: “Is there anything this man can’t do? #PrinceHarry is a true Californian now and this is supposed to be the man who’s plotting to come back to the UK?”

The wave that Harry can be seen riding at Slater’s surf ranch is man-made and has been dubbed the best artificial wave in the world – and the only one to have accreditation to stage elite level surfing competitions.

It’s unclear when the footage was taken, but it is the first time Harry has been seen since embarking on a two-week trip away from his home in California to make a string of appearances in New York, London and Southern Africa. His time back in the UK saw him attend the WellChild Awards last month although during his fleeting visit back to his homeland, there was no meeting between him and his estranged father, King Charles and his brother Prince William.

However, it appears that Harry isn’t the only royal with a love of surfing, as early this year his William, who is embroiled in a bitter feud with his brother, also spoke of his love of the sport.

Back in May, the Prince of Wales visited a surf beach in Cornwall, where he met members of the Holywell Bay and Newquay Surf lifesaving clubs and watched demonstrations of training drills, including surfboard skills and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. He asked one group of teenagers: “What is it like out there? Looks good for a few waves.”

Meanwhile, back in 2012, before their bitter feud began, both William and Harry were pictured enjoying a lads surfing weekend away on the Cornish coast. One holidaymaker who say them said: “We only realised they were here when we were looking for a lost ball and bumped into a group of men. We looked up and were quite shocked when we saw the two princes. They looked like they were having lots of fun.”
