A leading Vladimir Putin propagandist who urged the Kremlin to fire nuclear bombs at Ukraine is in a coma after suffering a “clinical death.”
Tigran Keosayan, 59, sanctioned by Britain and other Western countries, had urged the Kremlin dictator to use nuclear bombs and vowed Russia will take full control of Ukraine.
His powerful wife Margarita Simonyan, 44, who heads the slavish RT international media empire and is also sanctioned, confirmed his condition after rumours swept Moscow. There was speculation that the satirical show host could have been the target of a Ukrainian military intelligence death squad but she insisted his condition was due to heart weakness.
“I really didn’t want to say anything until the very last moment, but since reporters have already started calling, I’ll write it myself,” said Simonyan.
“My husband, Tigran Keosayan, went through clinical death and is now in a coma. As many of you know, his heart has been in terrible shape for a very long time.
“I’m not one for recording little videos from intensive care or snapping selfies of myself crying, so forgive me for not posting much on social media….. to those who care about Tigran, I dare to ask—please pray for him.” Among his diatribes was a threat to use nuclear weapons. “Should we – or not? That’s the question everyone is asking. I would have two years ago,” he told viewers. He has repeatedly threatened Russia would subjugate Ukraine.
Among his statements was this: “I want to address the Ukrainians. You are dying in the hundreds of thousands to get rid of one colonial dependence – the Russians – and fall into another colonial dependence, the Americans.
“Only this new dependence does not have a single similar word to you, not a single genetically similar molecule. “Are you dying for this?”
In 2021 Keosayan, also a well-known film director, declared in the occupied Donbas: “Hi to all Ukrainian comrades, friends and enemies. We will definitely be in Kyiv, sooner or later – and by the way, more likely sooner!” He and Simonyan are known to have a massive security team guarding them amid fears the propaganda couple are a Ukrainian target.
She has been charged in Ukraine for allegedly calling for the mass killing of Ukrainian children. The couple have three children together, and he has two from a previous marriage.
Simonyan told about his condition after blogger Nikita Nebylitsky had revealed Keosayan posted that the propagandist had been rushed to hospital on 27 December in a “deep coma”, and had been attended by two priests.
He surmised the condition could have been heart related or “something orchestrated by Comrade Budanov”, a reference to Ukrainian general Kyrylo Budanov, head of the GUR military intelligence directorate.
