Comedian and TV star Ricky Gervais has faced backlash after giving fans a look inside his impressive £14million London mansion as some branded it as ‘like a hospital’
Comedian Ricky Gervais has faced harsh criticism as he opened up the doors of his £14million home.
The Office star gave a rare look inside his London mansion as he shared a series of impressive snaps. He posted images from inside the lavish property as he showed off his huge lobby area. Ricky’s entrance hall features a white marble staircase with an ornate banister that winds up into the home.
The floor is sparkling white as the room reflected into it, however Ricky proved he is just like the rest of us as a washing basket sat on a bench in the corner of the hallway. He took fans into his sitting room and office space, with his collections of awards proudly on display.
The vast room features two black sofas with two matching armchairs as the white marble floor continues. Ricky’s wooden desk could be seen, while light flooded into the room. It has a minimalist feel, as he refrains from artwork or too many personal touches. The TV star’s design choices came under question by some followers as they compared it to a hospital.
One said: “Love what you have done to the place has that real psychopath mentality ward vibes.” Another added: “Must be weird living in a private hospital.” Someone else commented: “Parkour palatial meets a clockwork orange.” Yet others were more complimentary as one shared: “Looks so full of light!”
A fan added: “Beautiful home,” while another gushed: “Wow xx.” Over the summer, Ricky announced he had moved into a glorious new house in the capital with his partner of 42 years, Jane Fallon. The couple previously lived in a £10.8million home in Hampstead. Ricky and Jane split their time between the UK and the USA.
They are also said to have a riverside property in Marlow and two apartments in New York City. Ricky previously talked about the first property he had with Jane. “Our first flat was a one-room in a place called Kings Cross, which was a really rough area,” he said in 2017. “I think it was above some sort of seedy sauna…That’s all we could afford. Our little bed was in this room. I could open the fridge from the bed!”
Last year, Ricky revealed he had his sights set on renovating a castle. During a candid Q&A session with fans on social media, he was quizzed about any unfulfilled dreams he might have after notching up an enviable list of life achievements. Ricky mused: “Most people mean work with Meryl Streep or summat, but I do what I want career-wise. First I think I’d like to build an animal sanctuary somewhere or do up a castle.” Ever the joker, the Office creator added: “Get a castle and put it back to its original glory… with air conditioning, plumbing, central heating, double glazing.”
