Rita Ora said she’s ‘over the moon’ to be hosting the MTV Europe Music Awards again. The event is taking place in Manchester on November 10
Singer Rita Ora said she was ‘over the moon’ as she was announced as the host for MTV’s Europe Music Awards 2024.
The ceremony is taking place at Manchester’s Co-Op Live Arena on November 10. Over the weekend, rumours swirled about Rita hosting the event but it wasn’t confirmed until now. In a new video shared on MTV EMA’s official Instagram page, Rita was seen saying: “I am this year’s MTV EMA’s host. I can’t wait to see you there.”
She also stated: “I’m over the moon that I get to be back with my MTV family hosting the EMAs for the third time. The EMAs stage has become like another home for me, and this year’s show in Manchester is going to be absolutely incredible! We’ve got an amazing lineup of music performances and plenty of surprises in store. We’re all ‘mad fer it!’.”
Bruce Gillmer, the President of Paramount and Chief Content Officer of Paramount+, said of her stint: “The MTV EMAs are taking over Manchester and we can’t think of a better way to supersize this global music event than by bringing back fan-favorite, Rita Ora. Rita’s infectious energy and talent are undeniable, and we’re absolutely certain she will elevate the show to new highs for fans around the world.”
Fans were delighted with the news, with one person taking to the MTV post to write: “She has the charisma and charm we ask for,” while another excited fan added: “EMAS should be The Rita Ora Show!!!!! You rock queen!!!!!!!!” Another user posted: “Can’t wait to see all you MAJOR LOOKS!! #fashionicon.”
It comes after it was reported that Rita and the EMAs are working on a tribute for the late singer, Liam Payne. Over the weekend, it was said that his former collaborator Rita – with who he worked with on For You – will be involved in the plans that could be anything from a musical tribute or an in memoriam montage.
Liam was in holiday in Buenos Aires, Argentina, when he fell to his death from a third floor balcony at the CasaSur Hotel last Wednesday evening. City ambulance service provider spokesman Alberto Crescenti said he had fallen around 45 feet and suffered “severe injuries which were incompatible with life.”
It has been claimed Rita will be taking to the stage for the EMAs next month and pay tribute. A source said to The Sun : “In the coming days they will start drawing up official plans. Officially Rita is yet to be announced, but she is hosting this year’s awards and will be involved in whatever MTV decides to do. She and Liam have been close for years and grew in the industry together. Obviously, she is devastated by his passing.”
