I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2024 made its hotly-anticipated debut on ITV tonight with Tulisa Contostavlos among the names entering the Australian jungle
TV presenter Rylan Clark is making sure his pal Tulisa Contostavlos isn’t the victim of any online bullying during her time on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
The N-Dubz singer made her debut on the ITV series this evening, joining the likes of Coleen Rooney, GK Barry, Jane Moore and McFly singer Danny Jones as they entered the famous jungle and began their camping journey.
But while many viewers rejoiced at seeing Tulisa back on their screens after a few years away – with the star bringing back her trademark Female Boss arm gesture – others shared cruel comments about the 36-year-old’s appearance and debated why she looks slightly different compared to how she did in her early twenties.
Rylan wasn’t having any of it. Taking to Twitter, formally known as X, the BBC Radio 2 presenter reminded social media critics to think before they pass judgement on someone’s appearance. He told his followers: “Also before people start going for appearance, Tulisa has been through a lot health wise the last few years so let’s not make s*** jokes about her on twitter yeah x.”
This isn’t the first time Rylan has made it clear he is backing Tulisa to be crowned Queen of the Jungle. As the singer was officially unveiled as part of the 2024 I’m A Celebrity line-up, Tulisa shared a promotional snap on her Instagram page and told fans: “The news is out! I’m off to the jungle. Wish me luck @itvxofficial @imacelebrity #ImACeleb.”
The pop singer and former N-Dubz member is best known for guiding Little Mix to victory on The X Factor in 2011, before stepping back from the show the following year. Rylan, an X Factor hopeful back in 2012 when Tulisa left the judging panel, was swift to back the new jungle contestant, reposting Tulisa’s announcement to his own Instagram following and wishing her “Good luck xxx.”
“If me being my authentic self connects with people in a mass way, then it must mean I’m doing something right in life. But I am not going to go looking for it. This isn’t a career move for me either. I will always go back to N-Dubz and this is a one-off experience,” Tulisa claimed before heading Down Under.
The London-born singer likened her upcoming stint on the show to an epic adventure, saying: “I am like Frodo Baggins on an unexpected journey. I feel really adventurous this year and the place I am now in, I want to do things that take me out of my comfort zone. I have always said I wouldn’t do this show in the past, as there are things that have terrified me. But the person I am now, I want to throw caution to the wind.”
