Strictly Come Dancing professional Kristina Rihanoff and rugby union player Ben Cohen have reportedly split after 12 years together after meeting on the show
Kristina Rihanoff sobbed months before her split from Ben Cohen, as the pair admitted their relationship was hanging by a thread.
The Strictly Come Dancing professional and rugby union player have reportedly gone their separate ways after 12 years together. The pair met on the show when Ben was married to then-wife Abby, but they split and Ben and Kristina ended up dating.
The pair were partnered together on the show and they eventually fell in love. The couple faced backlash due to the infamous Strictly curse but went on to get married and welcomed daughter Mila together in 2016, but have now split.
“It’s like the curse in reverse. This will be like karma for Abby, she was so upset when Ben left her. It’s like he has got his comeuppance. The past six months have been hell for them and it has torn the love they had apart,” a source said of their split, “For the sake of their family, they have chosen to go forward as separate individuals. Those close to them who know them as a couple had hoped they would be able to work things out but for now it’s over and it looks like there’s no going back.”
Just a few months ago, the pair appeared in court where they said they were so in debt they are “fighting not to lose their relationship and their home”. They were in court after Kristina was caught driving her Audi Q3 without insurance. The court slapped her with six points on her licence but faced a ban for totting up 12 penalty points.
She had been to court to appeal the conviction for driving without insurance with her husband appearing as her witness. During the hearing, Ben said he had ignored a text from his insurance company.
In a sad admission, Ben said: “I get up every day and I fight not to lose everything to lose my cars and my house and my relationship. I’m so overdrawn … We’re still living together. We’re in it financially.
“We’re in business together so the problem is that we opened the business before Covid and we got the worst severities of it and in all honestly this is just another problem for me to deal with. I’ve got credit cards that are overdrawn. I’m overdrawn in both accounts. We have got a business debt because of Covid. It’s just another problem.”
During the court hearing, at one point, Kristina rushed off after saying she felt sick and holding her hands over her mouth. She also sobbed throughout the proceedings and said she needed to drive to judge ballroom competitions across the country as it earned her £2,000-a-month and she also needed to be able to drive to take her kids to school.
The pair had also reportedly put their five-bedroom home in Sywell, Northamptonshire on sale. The home was put up for sale for £1.75million and was described as a “superb family home offering spacious and versatile living accommodation” and also had a “impressive kitchen breakfast/family living area”.
